quote KR_1250I'm not a developer.quote Tec 9I would argue that simply because there was A LOT more to do in GTA:VC anyway. Car lists, tank/army chases, off roading, way more side missions, flying, cheats, rooftop bike missions, stadium races... etc etc etc.I've noticed most people going on about how there's 'nothing to do' in IV. There was nothing to do in 3 or Vice City either, but people didn't complain about that.
Even if that is not the case with GTAIII that argument is pretty poor from R*'s view.
"there may not be much to do in GTAIV but there wasnt much to do in GTAIII either"
Thats a pretty poor argument from a developer point of view.

quote ChiroVetteThis sums up, what I think, most people are disappointed with in GTA IV. The lack of mysterious things to explore and find. And unlike previous GTA games, there really was no mystique to speak of. People tried to manufacture it with Leatherface and all that other nonsense, but it always seemed so artificial, like the fans were trying too hard to capture something long gone from the series.
quote KR_1250YES! I totally agree mate! It'll take so much to beat SA, I hated 3 and VC but SA got nearly everything right!Hi forum,
Last weekend my boredom waiting for GTAV finally peaked and i bought GTA:San Andreas from the XBOX marketplace. A few minutes in and i realised that i had forgot just how good this game is.
It got me thinking. R* have one hell of a mountain to climb. GTAV must be far more similair to GTA:SA than GTAIV was to GTA3 or I am going to be mordbidly dissapointed.
Mutiple air vehicles
Dozens of garages and homes
Huge variety of weapons
Massive map variation
The list goes on and on. I almost wish i hadnt bought it because I am now convinced that GTAV is gonna be more of the same overly serious shite we dragged ourselves through in GTAIV.
I also hate to go back on msyelf and admit this but the driving IS better in GTA:SA. You can peel out and drift, lock up the brakes and slide like mad. The GTAIV cars feel underpowered, flabby and slow in comparison. The driver aids are overwhelming. Im sorry to say this but give us real drivers a 'Hard' or 'Advanced' mode. We dont all need to be babysat through some wheelspin. Worst thing is without the driver aids GTAIV would have had superior driving. Just like the rest of the game everything is polished and simplified.
Anyone else feel this way? Im sure GTAV will break every record going and get the best reveiws of any game ever. But am i still gonna be playign it 6 months from release with literally hundreds of things still left to do. I doubt it.
What are your thoughts? Will we see a true successor to GTA:SA? Or will we see a tarted up GTAIV?
quote MasterWow, I completely forgot I had the PS2 version first. No wonder why, it was 2004.quote RoyBut... it did come out in (October) 2004? 2005 was for PC and Xbox.I keep forgetting that GTA: SA came out in fall 2005. Why did I think it came out in fall 2004 for some reason? It must been because I thought I was still a freshman in college.
