Well when he was at Brescia he played more advanced then what he does now, so at the time it was the right position but in hindsight it was the wrong position. He really only became a deep lying playmaker at Milan.

I think it was against Racing and a player was man marking Xavi so what did Xavi do? he dropped into his own half and the Racing player followed him leaving Iniesta and Messi(who dropped into midfield) in miles of space.
