During the SDCC 2012 Assassin's Creed III panel yesterday, the topic of the Assassin's Creed III Multiplayer demo was brought up. Alex Hutchinson, Creative Director on Assassin's Creed III, responded by saying
quote
“We decided with this one, we are going pretty close to the wire, trying to jam in as many features as possible and really make it as amazing as possible. So unfortunately this year, there will be no beta for multiplayer.”
So, alas, this year we will not be getting ours hands on the multiplayer earlier than the game. I'm a little disappointed by this but if Ubisoft think they've pretty much got it sussed, I guess there really is no need for a beta testing phase. Although the fact he said "trying to jam as many features as possible" concerns me a little and has be wondering whether they're just going for quantity over quality in this instance.
What do you guys think about this piece of news? No one can really deny that the MP beta has always hyped up a game before the release, so does this impede your excitement for the game?

I really never care about MP demos, Revelations demo was different and took a long time to get used, I was playing it for 1 hr and I didn't like at first.

No idea what the score is, overall I prefer ACR's system tbh.
*Also, Agent Mo, in AC3 if you kill your target just as they round a corner, or so that they've only been in your Line of Sight for a very short period you get an "Ambush" bonus and a few extra points.
I'm guessing that's not as good as a Silent though?
It's better, but i still prefer the Brotherhood way of doing things.

This is fine by me once the final product reaches a few conditions: -It works well technically on release -It has been properly tested and as such is not inherently flawed as ACR was (what sort of tester couldn't point out to Ubi that Closure is completely and utterly useless?) -It's well-supported on release (listening to community feedback and releasing patches)
It won't be perfect, Ubi will undoubtedly *bleep* something up; I'm just hoping for an improved and overall enjoyable experience.

Great. Get ready for a new patch every 2nd day after the release.
I preferred Brotherhood's approach meter - if an enemy runs straight into you from around a corner and you kill him, you'd get an Incognito in Brotherhood but a Discreet in Revelations. Sure it was luck that they ran into you, but they didn't know you were there so that's perfectly stealthy and definitely worthy of an Incognito.
However Revelations had a much better menu layout and matchmaking system, as well as the Agent Videos and Dossiers, those were cool. Also contested kills are a good addition, as is being able to stun a civilian - but they still need to remove the Circle that comes up above your pursuers head if they get close, that's a blatant giveaway if you hadn't noticed them up until then, and really annoying if someone pulls of an honourable death just because of that. Although i think that won't be a problem anyway due to the kill/stun button merge.
Smoke bomb's acceptable Plus you were using both which is unforgivable, it's even worst than killstealing a poisoned target
God, the number of times that happen to me in Revelations nearly drive me up the wall. I mean, you can clear see the guy is poisoned and about to die, why would you steal it for the sake of a few hundreds points. =/
Shamed about the no Beta though, but I guess there wouldn't too much changes/differences to the previous ones.
>_< People are just nobs who want as many points as they can for themselves rather than for the team. I propose that in ACIII and team game should have one collective amount of points that everyone gets, not just individual points. So say if your team got 15,600 points, you'd all get 15,600 points. That way, no one goes for kills for their own score.
As for the beta, it has a lot more changes from Revelations, than Revelations did to Brotherhood.

It's a shame about having no Beta this time round. I really enjoyed ACB and ACR's Betas. Perhaps Ubi think they have enough confidence now (after two games with multiplayer modes) to pull this off without a public beta??
On a side note, did anyone else prefer Brotherhood's multiplayer over Revelations? I just found Revelations to almost be completely the same as Brotherhood with new perks pasted on. It seemed 9/10 of the maps that cropped up match after match were old Brotherhood maps- none of the Revelations maps were as good as it's predecessor's IMO
