I'm getting very different opinions on this. I want to clone my shinies for trading because it seems that its what a lot of people do. I don't want to be giving up my shinies and receiving clones, so I figured its only fair if I clone my own shinies too. Is a cloned pokemon considered a hack though? I don't like hacks and I want to avoid being considered a distributor of hacked pokemon

Clones aren't hacks, it's a copy of the original. If the problem's the Pokemon not being said original, it's a chain of data in a game, a sequence of numbers that can potentially occur more than once anyway (though very unlikely), so it's pointless to cry over.

I was recently turned down a trade because the guy I was trading with saw the premier ribbons on my pokemon and said that makes the pokemon fake. I cloned my pokemon on pokecheck and they were given those ribbons, but I know the originals are legit. Does the presence of the premier ribbon actually give the cloned pokemon 'hacked' status?
Use this site to clone instead. It doesn't give them ribbons.

If the original is legit, the clone is legit

Ah.. Are you cloning an event Pokemon? Mew and or Mewtwos'? Because they only can have them as shown here.

And, no, that doesn't mean it's fake.

I don't know much about the ribbons, to be honest. If the premier ribbon is something you can get in the game, and your original Pokemon can have it, then it shouldn't be considered "hacked". As far as I know, it's only hacked if the data is put in wrong, like a bad ID number, where you obtained it, moves and stats etc. Someone else might know though.

As long the original one wasn't a hack then I think it's fine. If you don't want a hack and you don't trust them then don't trade, simple as that. I used to do this. I catch it legally and then cloning it makes clones semi-legit so there you go.
As far as I know, the Pokemon I clone are legit. Thanks for the reply!
