I thot it was just like a female version thus being a different color but i looked into it and the grey one with blue eyes is shiny! It worked for me, I was surprised how fast i got a shiny.

And we gotta admit the only reason gamefreak did the egg was to advertise shinies in g/s/c, tha same reason they had the red gyarados in it, and the highest shiny rate gamefreak will do ever again is the 5% with the pokeradar in d/p/pt.
