And the positioning of your sensor bar can help. Try to be a few metres apart, and have the sensor bar above you - can even point it down a bit if you want. Also, wait until you see the arrow appear on the ground to show he's going to roll it it. ^^

It's a rather awkward wrist position, but make sure you're pointing the remote down and swinging it forward.
