Hey guys!

As you may have noticed, we have re-launched the moderator requests process. As a result, you can now apply to become a moderator here on Neoseeker and let us know that you're interested in volunteering to help out!

The Moderator Requests NeoWiki page provides all of the details you need to know in order to use the new system. This thread is for any questions or queries you may have regarding the system or the moderator selection process itself.

While anyone may answer queries posted here, and we're grateful to anyone willing to help out, please note that any answers should only be considered authoritative if coming from a super moderator or a category moderator as these two teams of people are directly involved in the processing of applications.

Thanks! We hope that you find our new system a little more interactive and accessible than the previous. Good luck with your applications!

The best time to apply is when you think there is something to be done within a forum. It's actually that simple. There's no set line for PPD or release timeframe for the product. By "something to be done" I'm not referring to like, a header, but more really pushing some community building in the area. Local moderators are placed specifically to help grow our forums and stoke the fires of activity. So if there's a limping, half-dead forum that a member really wants to turn around, applying isn't a bad idea. That being said, it is always best to actually be working on building activity within the forum before applying. Much of what a moderator does members are capable of doing. If we get an application that states "I really want to make forum X live! When I promoted I would try my best!", is a little heartwarming, but not what we're looking for. We want members that take the initiative. So for example, an application that states "I have already been working on making forum X live! Here is what I've done so far..." is much, much more solid.

How do we know when a good time to apply is?
For example, would it be after the game comes out, before, when PPD reaches a certain point, ect.

EDIT: LOD-squa
Does the amount of posts or how long I have been here affect if I am going to get the moderating job or not?
No, not really. Obviously if you are really new to the site we won't have much to go on, but the main reason people get promoted is because of their conduct around the forum they have been promoted to and the site as a whole. If we feel you are the best person to take charge of a forum then we don't care how long you have been a member or how many posts you have made. Saying that, being active is a key part to being a mod, so we do take recent activity into consideration, but overall post count is never usually a major factor in someone getting a mod spot or not.

PikaPower - Forums are evaluated on a case by case basis, for now we are having the section moderator and Gotenks look over the forum.
Erm. PikaPower13.
Thanks.

Dynamite how do i know that my app has been rejected or accepted.
If you haven't been promoted after an extended time (about a month) it's safe to assume your application has been rejected. You will know it was been accepted because one of the supers will PM you. In very special cases a super will PM you telling you why your application was rejected.
Has that ever happened? (to your knowledge). I'm not asking for specific names or anything. I'm just interested as to what is deemed a "special case" that would warrant a PM back about the rejection.
It has happend once that I am aware of. I'm not sure how much I'm really allowed to say here, but an example of a special case might be to tell somebody that whilst they may have been rejected they showed a lot of promise and potential to maybe get a spot later on in the future.
Yeah, I understand it might be a "dodgy" question to answer, so thanks!
