Season 3: News & Rumors

In a continuing effort to keep posts in these threads discrete between seasons, we now have a place for the slow trickle of S3 information until next winter rolls around.

It is known:

  • Book three will be covered by two seasons, as per producer comments.
  • At this time a third and fourth season of 10 episodes has been ordered by HBO.
  • Co-showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benihoff have signed on through 2014.
  • George R.R. Martin will again be writing one episode - #307 - of the upcoming order.

    quote Episode Listing
    3x1 "Valar Dohaeris" 3/31/13
3x2 "Dark Wings, Dark Words" 4/7/13
    3x3 "Walk of Punishment" 4/14/13
3x4 "And Now His Watch Is Ended" 4/21/13
    3x5 "Kissed by Fire" 4/28/13
    3x6 "The Climb" 5/5/13
3x7 "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" 5/12/13
    3x8 "Second Sons" 5/19/13
3x9 "The Rains of Castamere" 6/2/13
    3x10 "Mhysa" 6/9/13

This is obviously going to mean some speculation to events in the book. Keep comments to a cryptic standard considering there are many who don't know what's forthcoming in the story yet.

And speaking of the books mine arrived today and *bleep*ing hell they're good. If I'm this hooked on the first book where I already know the story God knows what I'll be like when I catch up to where the TV series is.
Are you going to try and pace yourself reading through them with the series? That's hard to do >> I aimed for it with book 1 but then my love of fantasy took over and I just blitzed through the whole lot. They're actually quite a good accompaniment to the series as you get quite a bit more background as to the lore of the realm. For example, book 1 has a lot more information about the gods and those trees with the faces on them, which is really interesting.

How do you even stumble upon so many spoliers? I just tend to avoid reading comments on any article, video etc related to GoT which is where a lot of spoliers seem to be at. The only thing I ever had spoiled for me was that Dany's dragons are stolen in Season 2. Which was pretty annoying because at the point where I was at she didn't even have her dragons.

Daario looks nothing like I thought he would.

Agreed. There's been some weird casting choices this season which have already been mentioned in here, but in a way I'm happy with it. I don't have a problem with them going off-course from the source material, as long as the show stays as good as it is

Typing this as I watch so that I don't forget much ^^

    Season 3 Episode 8
    • I love how tactfully Dany handled the second sons. She managed to seem feminine and non-confrontational yet her intent was very clear. Daario looks nothing like I thought he would.
    • Tyrion making Sansa smile just before their wedding was nice. Neither of them are happy about it, but I think she's beginning to realise that he's not as bad as the rest of his family.
    • Cersei was ruthless in this episode! Her threat to Margaery and basically saying that she'll kill her if she calls her 'sister' again. Eesh.
    • Joffrey you dick. Having the nerve to escort Sansa down the aisle after you killed her father and then taking Tyrion's stool? Brb, need to relive the slaps in season 1 again.
    • If Melisandre tries to bed Gendry...NO NO NO. Get off him ya bitch. Although...leave his shirt off please :>
    • Lol, drunk Tyrion is amazing "I'll tell you all about it, it'll put you in the mood" made me laugh so hard xD
    • I feel a little sorry for the guy that plays Joffrey, he does it so well, and we hate him so much that it must be difficult for people that know him irl not to slap him.
    • Yeah Sam! Love that the tree with the face of the old god was shown for a moment. Although pick up the dagger bro >> Wights are so freakin' scary though. I can see why fight/flight might have taken over.

See above for a reason why a scene like that would happen

    quote The Living Angelus

They did it a bit differently from the books. On the walk back after the Fist of the First Men, they get attacked by a White Walker and Sam kills it with the dragonglass. Then, when he is traveling with Gilly, at that shed, they get attacked by a bunch of Wrights and the mob of crows save their lives by attacking the Wrights and giving them the chance to run.

They basically just condescend these two things in to one. But it kind of lessened the impact of the mob of crows IMO.

We never got to see the scene of one of her hand maidens eating out her pussy.

It happened in Book 2. Thought HBO would jump on the opportunity to make a lesbian scene with Dany. Disappointed they didn't.
Say what now? / Okay, if there was any a time for you to talk about book spoilers, it's this. lol. Exactly why does Dany have a lesbian scene? I mean, she did in Season 1 technically, but she was being instructed on how to please Khal Drogo.

    quote Darknet
No seriously, that is how that went down.
Bummer... I'm still surprised HBO didn't have Dany wear that Qartheen Dress. I've seen designs of it.

    quote Lavitz
Also, *bleep* Sam for not picking that dagger back up. Moron.
I thought so too, but was told why he didn't.
