quote ChekkaaAlright. I think I'll go with the Acer. Thank you so much!quote MrBacon18The first one has a bigger hard drive and slightly faster RAM, but the second one has a slightly better video card with reduced power consumption. It's really up to you.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834214496 This is the Toshiba

quote ChekkaaAh okay. I do tend to multitask. Thanks everyone!quote ChaosfireI'm not just saying half the cores = half the power in all cases, just in this case. The i5 and the i7 use a similar architecture, and the benchmarks are actually cut in half as well. But the 8 core bulldozer is not even 75% of the quad core i5 2500.
And minecraft threads in a single core anyway. So do most other applications.
And I'm also not saying it would affect Minecraft that much, but personally, I wouldn't even consider buying a dual core, because I tend to do heavy multitasking and run multithreaded applications. Maybe MrBacon18 wants that option for the future. After all, we are beginning to move into the age of multithreaded programs.quote MrBacon18The one he linked has a dual core i5, which is half as powerful as the quad core i7 in the one you originally linked. You can upgrade the one he linked to have the same i7 for an extra $155.Do you think that there is possibly a model with the same specs but without the 3D display thing? Or is the $899 without the 3D display thing? And also, is it with an i5 Processor or i7? Because when I've looked around, I've seen both I think.
quote MrBacon18Just putting this here, but Alienware is generally an expensive brand. It isn't neccesarily better, it usually just has a nice look to the computer tower or in this case laptop. Some suggestions up here should get you going though.quote ChekkaaIs that included on Fancy also? What is the difference between that laptop and say an Alienware? What is needed to consider a laptop a good gaming one?I estimate about 20-30 fps on far render distance.

quote ChaosfireAh okay. It seems like it'd be pretty good. I'll look into it. Thanks!quote MrBacon18From the hardware it has inside it, I'd say its better. Honestly, it depends on what you'll be using it for.quote ChaosfireThat looks really good. From the laptops I've used, though, Dells are generally bad. But because this is a gaming one, would you say it's better?MrBacon18
Alright sonny. At 20$ more, you can run minecraft on whatever settings you want at 50 fps or higher.

babybakbak has a laptop with the same gpu and cpu, but different periphials, and he plays minecraft using high res texture packs, and far render distance.
Just my 2 cents. Final choice is yours of course.

quote ChekkaaBut the 8 core bulldozer is not even 75% of the quad core i5 2500.quote bionicle1995That's arguable. Yes, it's got a better hard drive, more RAM, and a slightly better video card, but the CPU is half as powerful; it's only a dual core instead of a quad core. You get a much better PC all round

quote SwiftBladeYeah, I just realized my mistake. I was basing my estimation off of my own laptop, but I forgot that I run it at a much higher resolution. MrBacon18 should easily get 50+ fps with the laptop he linked. Also, HD texture packs don't really affect frame rate very much, mostly just load times and RAM usage.20-30 fps? what? I currently have the ASUS K53SC, a worse laptop than that one he linked to, and I can get 50-90 fps with an HD texture pack.
