What do people think of a thread where you can post videos of your games to get constructive criticism? It's one thing playing a game and noting mistakes as you go on, and it's another recording your games and looking back on them, but it's never as good as having others looking at your games and letting you know what went wrong.

I'm not sure how many people (if any) actually record their games, I know I don't, but I know we all want to improve and this might help. There's a bunch of threads where people have explained their play, asking how to improve, but the best way is to upload a game and have people look at it. We could even learn from watching other members videos, even if they were uploaded to have the flaws examined, much like viewing streams.

Only problems I see are how many people would actually watch whole games, as at times they can span an hour or more, and how many people are able to record. I think it'd be good, we've got some high-level players who might be willing to chip in with some advice, it's something I've wanted to do.

I have no problem with these streaming threads, none at all. I have a problem with people who sign on as guests, make 1 post of broken English and punctuation with a broken link and then never revisit the site again. Because it makes the forum look messy. Is it adding to our rank? Yes, but no one wants to join a forum just FULL of advertisements (it's why I left MobaFire for Neoseeker).

If it's fine by you I'd like to reply to these threads with a post about joining the community with the goal of becoming a long term member, but I don't want to come off as a memberator.

Time for that different opinion then. There's the previously mentioned Krazzi as well. I actually don't have a post in mind that wasn't closed&removed which had horribly broken english and looked like trash. Yeah most of the threads are a couple sentences max, but that's not anything to worry about, especially if you aren't viewing those threads anyway because you dislike people advocating their streams.

Desperate for members? No, not at all. Want to make sure any possible new users aren't scared away, taking advantage of what we can and finding a way to become the biggest, best area we can with what we have to work with. So it doesn't become a desperate situation.

Basically every "posted once then left" user did so as a member anyway. Turning guests off is just potentially harmful with no gain.

You're making a mountain out of molehill. What is currently one thread on page 1 shouldn't be a bother to you. If the place gets full of random stream links, as previously mentioned, it'll get siphoned off to a new area. Therefore still keeping the main area relatively clear. You lose nothing. So, what's the problem?

Streaming is a huge part of the LoL community right now.

Well, no, that's not quite right, really;

Streaming is a HUGE AREA OF THE LOL COMMUNITY, and seems to only be growing every quarter.

Almost everybody has a streamer they know of, watch, whatever. Why on earth would we say we're above those threads and try to stifle them? What does that do for us as a forum, as a community? We can't say "well after you post and become a solid member, then you can make the thread!", because nobody in their right mind will stay for that. We can't section it off into a general thread, because that will just kill possible discussion and make it worthless for us as a forum. We shouldn't make a subforum right now, because some people have done an excellent job at scaring off enough people where it's not an incredibly common thing to see new stream threads anyway.

e: The point at its core is adaptability. If you want neo-lol to live on and grow the next year, and the year after that, adapting to new trends and player interests is hugely important.

Correct HMS, general threads are a problem of their own.

Consider the following Bluanimal;
We have no Stream discussions, because people trainwreck the threads and scare people off. How on earth are we going to grow discussion and attract members who respond to those kinds of threads, if all that ever happens to them is negative posts from current users?

While it's safe to say there will be people who post once and then leave, really doesn't take long at all here for somebody to be bumped off the main page (Especially if people don't talk about LoL in the GD). I've posted in two streaming threads, Krazzi and CloudCarry, and they both responded. For anybody who doesn't respond, does that even hurt you? If it starts flooding the forum, gets a subforum, if it doesn't, then whatever. There is one streaming thread on page one that I see. There are going to be threads in any forum you just aren't going to enjoy or be into, but that shouldn't be a bother, as it's very easy to just not participate in a thread you don't find interesting. It does however, open the gates for others to post, new members, or current members who actually like streaming.

A "single streaming thread" isn't what Lorx/SC meant, I think. A general thread would be part of the problem- one thread and less hits/activity, right?

I agree, noticed the exact same thing. You know, I'm actually going to start streaming soon once I get off for summer vacation, perhaps I could start off a streaming thread or whatever so we get more hits, and others know where to leave their stream info.

Advertising streams is always a 1 post account wanting some hits on their Twitch. They don't come to our forum to add content an discussion, they come to promote another site that they actually will be using.

Tagging some active posters, so they read the above. Some of you may know this already, but just to be sure I'm going to blanket this.

Read it please. If you have questions, ask, though keep in mind this isn't a point for contention.

Extra reading if you feel so inclined;

There's two main points to consider about these threads:

They're content. We like content, means we get more google hits from people searching for specific content, more things to talk about for those who like these things.
Openness of conversation. We do not have entry requirements for ELO or specific interests here. If somebody's into fanart, streams, fanfiction, whatever, cool. Throwing stones at these threads does nothing except secure that this forum will die due to people scaring off potentially new users. The "old guard" of any given forum cannot keep it alive forever. In order for communities to be perpetual, they need new users. People quit, get banned, leave for military work, whatever, in order to fill those holes and keep things going, new members are needed. If you scare them off, the forum will eventually choke and die. I don't think any of you want that to happen.

I don't quite know where rumors start that we don't like streamers posting about themselves here. But frankly that is an incredibly harmful rumor to the health and growth possibilities of the site, and something that needs to stop. They're not flooding the forum, they're not causing any harm. If you don't want to read threads about streams, don't read them. You have lost nothing. If, in the future, it does begin to flood, all we have to do is make a subforum for streaming stuff. Problem solved, and everybody gets to go home happy.

There's only two common instances for when links off-site are bad:

It's crap. Aka, harmful to users, advertising some irrelevant trash which isn't related to the forum, etc. Things which are not content for us. That obvious, classic adspam we all love so dearly.
If somebody is coming by repeatedly and making tons of threads for whatever it is they have, a stream, some art, whatever, then it's bad, because it's eight billion duplicate threads, not because it links off-site.

If you aren't sure if a thread is bad, just report it and move on, SC will look into it. Going into the thread and trainwrecking it to "fix it yourself" is not an option. If the thread wasn't bad, you just killed a legitimate thread, meaning you're the bad guy.
