Since we about a week after release, how far did you get? I've completed Hell difficulty on my Monk, but I'm not too bothered to rush through Inferno. I'll take that as it comes, so that'll be really slow, haha.

So, have any of you completed Inferno, or are close? If not, how far are you?

None of my gear was using my own money, although I did use RMAH from the profits I earned.

Already beat the story in inferno a while ago, so now I'm just currently doing 3 shorter Act 2 runs each day (throw in some act 3 runs over act 2 when I have more time) until GW2.

Don't plan on upgrading any more gear (maybe the gem on weapon at most), just going to try to help friends and sell gear I find for some chump change.

Act 1 inferno now and I'm getting pretty sick of the idiotic manner you have to play this game.

You need top gear in order to survive in act 1, but you can't even find good enough gear to help you progress in hell so you're forced to use the AH which is just rediculous imo. I've spent about 700-800k on upgrading my gear (I'm a DH) and mainly focussing on dext and mobs that are allready quick with the fast perk just rush me and kill me quite fast even when I almost only use slowing down or stun attacks. Other mobs like mortar throwers just keep throwing mortars so I virtually have no time to attack if I don't want to turn up dead right away. I've got 30k dps now and I still end up dead all the time. Some dungeons I just can't explore because of fast, molten, mortar, vampiric mobs.

What's the point in having further acts if you can just buy everything you'd need on the AH anyway?
You'll never be able to afford the best gear with just access to AH, you would need to farm the better acts. Acts 3/4/pony land has item level 63 stuff which has way better stats and dps, so they cost a lot more than you'll ever farm in act 1 (until 1.3 anyway, where they will make iLvl 63 have a 2% chance to drop in act 1). Right now, act 1 only drops iLvl 61 stuff, act 2 is iLvl 62 (hence why no one farms act 2).

Also, did you get movement speed boots? Movement speed + attack speed is god for ranged kiting in inferno. I have 25% movement speed (maxed) and I outrun most fast mobs. You can max this pretty cheaply through anglers (11% movement boots with attack speed) or just cheap blue dex + 12% movement, lacuni prowlers (7% movement and has atk speed), and hammer jammers (7% movement) but you can afford to drop 1% on any of those if you get blue boots since cap is 25%.

You also want some attack speed gloves+necklace+rings. With enough attack and movement speed, you "stutter step": move shift click, move shoot shift click. Mortars is insanely easy with enough movement speed, you can just outrun it then shoot several times before running again and repeat.

-------------------------

Demon hunters are actually one of the best classes with least money invested, smoke screen + prep is pretty much your bread and butter. You also want to invest into some +discipline items.

The difference between playing with and without movement speed is like running in slow motion lol (the cap is 25%).

You don't need top end gear as ranged to clear the game in inferno (you will have to skip some combo elites though without the top end gear), you just need top end gear to farm to be more efficient (so you don't have to kite for 10 years). and to kill certain nasty elite combos that are unkillable with low end gear.

-----------------------------

Inferno is much easier now in parties too, since monsters don't do additional damage per player anymore. So if you're having a lot of trouble, try partying with others until you have better gear.

Yeah, mobs don't get the "burst" skills until act 3/4 (where it does like over 100k even with 300+ resists).

All the acts aren't that bad though if you skip the annoying elites as ranged, if you're farming and get certain combos that's a different story.

The only challenging story boss is diablo, elites with certain combos are harder than the rest of the story bosses. If you're just clearing you won't need as good gear as if you're farming the area (because you can skip the annoying elites). There's a huge difference when I had 30k dps and 80k dps in farming speed (don't have to kite for 10 years). You can also only skip so many mobs when you're farming because you don't want to lose stacks.

Act 3 has a pretty good farming spot (spider lady + azmo), since when you get bad combinations of elites you can just bring them to another ledge and then die and kill them from the first ledge.
----------------

They also just made inferno much easier in groups. Mobs don't get increased damage per additional player (hotfixed a day ago). Tanks can finally tank in parties now in act 3-4 lol (before the damage was too high to tank in 4 man parties).

if you're a melee, with like over 100-150m+ worth of gear, then it becomes brain dead easy because you can just sit in everything and out life on hit the damage lol
that actually sounds like a lot of fun lol.

my barbarians gear sucks. i still can't even deal with act 1. barely any far into it an i already got to the point where i cant kite with axes. not much i can do but farm (boring)
Yeah, seeing those barbs stream with god gear made it seem really fun lol. I think I'm going to roll a melee eventually because of this, because a ranged can never play like that even with the best gear.

Act 2 inferno was actually much easier than I expected, the start was a bit rough but I simply went away and skipped the mental-combination elites and got through the whole act in about 2 days while skipping maybe 5 elites. I'll start going through act 3 today probably. Ranged definetely have it easier gear-wise. I'm quite tanky myself while still having 27k damage and it didn't cost me much at all.

As ranged, you'll always have to play your best even with the best gear (over 100m) you'll just kill faster but die in 1-3 hits (depending on what move you get hit by).

if you're a melee, with like over 100-150m+ worth of gear, then it becomes brain dead easy because you can just sit in everything and out life on hit the damage lol

You can sort of overgear for act 1 now that prices are dropping. I doubt someone coming out from hell will ever be able to overgear for act 2 and up, since the amount of money you make in inferno is exponentially higher than pre-inferno (1 good drop in inferno can make you more money than you've ever earned total pre-inferno).

--------------------

Finally broke 80k dps a wizard (with force weapon buff, without force weapon it's like 6xk dps), 31k hp, 3xx resists.

Don't think I can progress any further than that unless I play more often (I usually only do 3 runs a day) and get extremely lucky, since most upgrades would cost me over 5 mil per piece. I just don't have it in me to farm so much like those streamers lol, well unless I was farming with some friends but they're too undergeared to farm with me.
