So which assignments have you guys done? I've only been playing for about 2 days (irl days) in the past couple months so I have only done 3 out of the 10. Although I am progressing smoothly on the others.

Using the EOD Bot has reminded me why I barely ever used it before.....Its like trying to stagger home after downing 10 pints. You know which way you want to go, but actually getting there is awkward and ungainly.
LOL, yeah very true.
The EOD-Bot understeers increasingly with higher speeds and there is no visual way of lining up the robotic arm with the main chassis. So i only turn when stopped and i tend to turn the whole robot rather than just the arm.
It means you need to move in a very controlled and jerky way but its the most precise method i have found. I think with more practice it would get much easier. Two things i noticed about the EOD-Bot:
1: It is incredibly fast at top speed. So much so that its a good laugh driving it by enemies and watching them scramble to attack it but mostly miss.
2: Its torch is rediculously powerful against all vehicles. Even MBT's. It can take out a full health Abrahms or T-90 in about 3 seconds. Try it next time. Its a really good way of attacking armour without exposing yourself and most tank drivers have no idea what is happening.

How the hell do you get a kill with the EOD Bot? I've had enemies stood right in front of me today quite a few times and i've been desperately pressing all of the buttons and nothing happens......What button do you press?
Yup, as everyone said it should be L1 on PS3 or LB on 360.
If you want to check go near a surface and press the attack button. A flame will come out and you can mark/burn the surface. You can even write words on walls. My mate does the same thing with the repair torch. He leaves messages at flags and checkpoints.
When i finally got a kill with the EOD Bot i wrote "POO" on the ground next to the dudes body. But i dont think the kill-cam lasts long enough for him to have seen it LOL. Im so mature.
It's either L1 or R1 for PS3. I can't remember without having the controller in my hand, but I'm almost certain it's R1/RB. You'll see a flame coming out, if it's hitting against something.

Yeah aha, I got my EOD bot kill today, took about 5 times on Operation Metro. Just liertally rushed some kid.

I got my EOD Bot kill on Seine Crossing, Conquest game. By the bridge near the narrow passage flag.
The guy actually saw me first. He appeared on my map as he started shooting, I had to turn the thing around just to be able to see him. I don't think he got a single hit on me.
Never thought I'd get that assignment done. Still can't control the Bot too well.
