Well, I thought I'd share that.

I won't going to BronyCon myself (even if I really wanted to, I'm nowhere near it), but this is interesting. John de Lancie is part of it to.

Won't be getting this myself, not unless I was guaranteed subs and Canada wasn't part of the 'international shipping' business (which means I'd pay $10 more).

Also, second Kickstarter project I've seen that says 'blue-ray' instead of blu-ray ~_~

Shadow of Death

I've watched all 3 documentaries. I can't say I'm thrilled about the audio side of things (2.0 audio, 192kbps, and there is some occasional stuff going on in the background or something that gets picked up), but at least the audio is clear generally, and the subtitles are good.

Lauren Faust's interview, which clocks a bit over 2 hours was pretty cool. Most segments are pretty short, like a minute or two where she just responds to what are normally simple, easily answered questions. But sometimes the questions result in pretty long answers (like several questions involving how the show got started with her involvement), with backstories and the like. All in all, I liked her interview a lot. She's such a sweetie, TBH, and you feel for her having left the show even though she didn't really want to.

John de Lancie's interview was 16 minutes, and a fair chunk of it is already seen in the main Documentary. He's pretty cool, and you get the sense that's he's a pretty nice guy. There is a bit of an amusing anecdote about him needing a ride to an airport and how that relates to what being a 'Brony' is all about.

Tara Strong's interview clocked at just under an hour. It starts off with her childhood, realizing she wants to be an actress/singer/dancer or voice actress. She goes on about how she met Lauren and eventually got into the FiM project. Then her induction into the Twitterverse, going from how she was just casually a member at first, to eventually becoming the Queen of the Bronies. She talks about charities, especially Kiki's Fund and why it was so great. Then she talks about Brony culture, how neat it is and the misconceptions, a bit about John de Lancie, and she really does seem to be as great as she's portrayed.

All in all, it was about 3.25 hours well spent.

So yeah, I've watched the Blu-ray now (I watched the Digital Download a while ago, but I guess I never posted about it in here). Not the best video quality, but I wasn't expecting it to be. The subtitle timing was still a bit wonky, but fine really. They actually did look into the error I pointed out (which is below:

>>> Even so, you can't ignore these Philly's contributions.
>
> Philly's should be Fillies' - "Philly" is a reference to the city of "Philadelphia", whereas a "filly" is a young female horse/pony. There are multiple fillies, and collectively contributing, hence the apostrophe. I'm guessing Spellcheck was used and it was automatically corrected or something like that.
They've changed it to Fillies I think, or maybe just fillies In any case, the worst of the oversight was dealt with XD

Because of the paypal issue that caused some people to be cleared, but shunted to a different section or something and forgotten I didn't end up credited in the Digital version of the documentary (which was decent). True to their word though, I ended up in the Blu-ray version, I'm credited right after the LaserPon3's blurb where he has turned his shows into a full time business.

I'm about to watch the extras (the regular extras that came with the basic BD, and the other Extras disk which cost a bit more to get).

I also got the shirt, but again because by the time they got my money, the design was already finalized and I'm not mentioned on it.

No big deal in any case.

I also got the Signed Artwork quite some time ago, just FYI.

I'll edit this post (or make a new post if someone has replied by the time I get back) about the extras. If they aren't subbed, it'll be a problem watching it.

EDIT: The Interviews are LONG! They're more than double the length of the documentary itself. Lauren Faust's interview alone is over 2 hours, Tara's is 1 hour, and John de Lancie's is about 20 mins. The documentary itself is only about 1.5 hours. So yeah, I'm saving the interviews for another night.

Teared up a little bit when Tara Strong made her comment about how "bronies could be the next step to changing people". I sure hope so, Tara!

You magical baassstads! How on earth do you all get such magical avatars? Brilliant!

Anyway, thanks for sharing the details of this Kickstarter. Obviously I'm well too late, but it's now made me aware of the product at least.
I posted it, and I forgot to back it XD I got it via their website though. You can purchase the documentary that way.

You can get (for this forum) Cutie Marks/Ponytars from HERE. GIFs are for mods/supers though, just FYI.

Copypasta'd from a different thread, but very relevant:

Just FYI but anypony who has ordered via Paypal, if it took a while to clear (like mine did), chances are you didn't get added to the master list. That's why I didn't get my Digital Download automatically (and why I didn't get credited in the digital version). I SHOULD be credited in the Disk version though.

DLing my digital copies now (1080p, 720p, and 400p).

BTW: The 1080p file is 3.3GB, a respectable size for a 1080p digital video of about 1.5 hours in length.

t’s an exciting time here at the documentary office. We have updates for you about a number of different things. We also have some big news to announce.

First and foremost, the editing of the film is well underway. It’s starting to take shape and looking great! We expect to reach our target release date. The film should be done and the digital download codes should be sent out the last part of November. After that, the Blu-ray discs will be manufactured and shipped in the first part of December.

So what’s taking so long you may be asking. Over 300 hours of raw footage!

We filmed all over the world:

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Andrews, North Carolina

Bar Harbor, Maine

Berlin, Germany

Brooklyn, New York

Dusseldorf, Germany

Long Island, New York

Los Angeles, California

Lowell, Massachusetts

Manchester, United Kingdom

Rugeley, United Kingdom

San Diego, California

Secaucus, New Jersey

Stuttgart, Germany

Tel Aviv, Israel

We have Jay Miracle (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0591969/) one of the best editors in the business on the job. Jay is an Emmy award-winning editor and he is bringing his great talent to the film. He’s working hard on bringing that footage down to about 2-hours of great story telling.

That brings us to an update from a previous post. Instead of separating the film into three separate parts (one for BronyCon, one for GALACON and one for B.U.C.K.) Jay and our talented story producer Stephanie Hubbard have figured out a terrific way to incorporate all the storylines into one program. We think you’ll like the approach since it puts the Brony phenomena into international perspective.

We’ve also brought on an amazing music composer. His name is David O (www.davidomusic.com). He’s a respected composer, musical director and performer. He will be writing an original score for the film and will record real life musicians performing much of it. We’re also exploring the possibility of incorporating some fan music.

It’s time to let you in on something special that’s been in the works. The film will feature an original song about who Bronies are. It’s a collaboration of none other than Amy Keating Rogers, Mic the Microphone and David O. To add icing to the cake, John de Lancie will perform the song and a talented group of people are animating it! Can you say epic… how’s that for original content?

On the rewards front, all the Love & Tolerance Art posters have been shipped. If you have not received yours, please use the “Contact Me” link to send me a private message and I’ll see if I can track it down.

This brings me to address changes. If you have one, just send it to me in a private message and I’ll update our mailing list.

Finally, the t-shirts are back from the printers. They turned out great. It pains me to say this, but after careful calculation and because we want to put as much of the backer money into the content of the film as possible, we can’t send all the shirts out in a package that is separate from the Blu-Ray discs. The cost of shipping in the US is low enough that only US backers will get a separate package with just the shirt, which will be sent this week. This is only because when the Blu-Ray discs are ready, in the US, they can be sent via low cost media mail. As far as Canada and the rest of the world, I’m so sorry, but your shirt will be sent with your Blu-Ray disc. If you just can’t wait, head over to www.bronydoc.com and for $5 (Canada) or $10 (International) we’ll send your shirt this week.

Again, thank you for your support.

Michael Brockhoff & the Documentary Team.

Liege - I think those two cons are for a bonus disk. Maybe we're just getting the main BronyCon disk (and signatures and such) for now? Would make sense. It'd suck to have to wait longer than others for a 2 disk set rather than their one disk set.
