I decided to ditch the LS and Axe ways and decided to become a mage. I'm also wondering if there's a mage guide somewhere here that I can take a look at. I also wanted to ask about the do's and don'ts of being a Mage and what gears and weapon I should have. I haven't gotten the Lux or Veda yet, but I seen friend of mines use the Kraken Rod and Ive decided to go with that while I'm gathering materials for either the Lux or Veda. And one more question..it may be the dumbest question you guys will ever hear but...........,....what's the difference and importance of INT and SPR again? See I told you it was a dumb question.

I did try that out a bit, Unease_Lemming. I used disintegration on Lamia and did more damage with rock skewer than with the other elemental attacks. I've tried it on a few different monsters. Their status will show the res lowered, but your damage won't have yellow numbers.

since this topic is here and I like discussing these things, here's something I've been messing around with.
Turns out that using elemental spells on some resistant enemies is still superior to casting Eclipse Gate, not just on neutral enemies.
The main thing there being that Resistance does not equal Resistance, some enemies seem more resistant to the elements than others, which only slightly resist them.
For example, I've found that using Inundation --> Icebreaker on Karkinos Gigas is superior to EG, even though the numbers do not turn orange, indicating even with t4 weakened RES, he's still resistant to it. I'll happily cast a 15mp spell for 2000 dmg as opposed to a 36mp spell for 4000, and at twice the speed, at that.
The same thing applies to Grand gigas, the element resistant alpha and beta gigases.
On the other hand, on, say, Lamia Comitis, General and Duke Gigas and Wizel, T4 spell into t3 spell has diminishing returns, only hitting for 1.5k with the elemental spells and still getting the 4k for EG.
Just figured I'd throw this out there and see if anyone else has noticed this.

Mage tip 1: Get used to blocking attacks and learning enemy attack patterns.
Mage tip 2: Dps isn't everything. Spend some time finding your sweet spot for damage vs. survivability.
Make a lux staff (for the +19vit) until you can make TK stave. Also make some gears with vitality/def and some with agility. Be wary of the Grimoire2 set. Personally don't see the benefit of 1 or 2 int increase with a -9agi handicap per peice. Soliel2 pants have 23 int and good def, same for Soliel2/Sensui top.
As stated above, learn the elements everything can be weakened to. Luthia(fire), Larvayne(wind), Adol(water), Dinivas(earth) can all be weakened to their respective elements. Everything else is fairly straightforward.
That's what those nifty accessory sets are for, hide the hideous armor combinations using one.
the problem is that you spend time to get the best combination (for stats) of armor and then have to give up stats by using an accessory to cover it up
Yeah, it is a shame that Ashura's top is fairly useless - except it's a TON easier to make than Polkan Garb II, Robin's Mail II and the Bold Top (at least the blue items are anyway).
polkan garb is easier than ashura, polkan king is much easier to run and you need blue balls to upgrade which are easy to get
