So, my hard drive is corrupt. It causes my PS3 to run slowly at times, and freeze at times on the XMB when it just shouldn't. But it can't be fixed! The backup utility doesn't work because of my corrupted hard drive. It's ridiculous. I want to back it up because it's corrupted, if the utility ever works it should be now. You can back up all your data by hand, and you can even use the "Copy all" function on all folders...except game saves. You have to do them by hand. Why should game saves be any different? It's absolutely crazy. So yeah, thanks Sony. My system isn't broken, but the procedures in place to restore it are.
Does anyone have another solution for me?

Same as before. I think there is now a copy-all feature, but I haven't bothered to do it, because the system is running okay. I think one of the problems, which I was blaming on my hard-drive, is that my internet was playing up intermittently. I think this was causing some general slowness, particularly in Gran Turismo, which tries to access the internet whenever you do anything, and will leave you waiting while it figures out what's going on.

So, Ville_Valo, how did things turn out regarding your PS3's HDD?

Don't even try and call the PS3 unreliable against the Xbox.

Buy an Xbox 360. I've give up with endless PS3 problems. They are so unreliable and the network is crap.

Try googling what happens if you plug your ps3 HDD into a PC...if its safe then you could just do a full extract of the drive...then pick out your saves one by one but ONLY if its safe!.
If not then try and look for a specialist that extracts stuff from hard drives and get there opinion...
If none of the above wont work then copy what you can to a thumb drive and put the non-copyable stuff on PSN+
these seem to be the only answers i can offer

I've put scars on my ps3, so the name fits.
This one time I had this really awesome silver ps3 controller. And this one time I was playing DC Universe Online PVP and the block animation wasn't working and I raged so hard Mr Silver flew out of my hands and at my PS3, leaving a silver streak across the top.
Streaky doesn't play DCUO PVP anymore. Streaky knows better.
But yeah, it is pretty stupid to restrict saves in that manner. There's other ways they can go about it without breaking content, like having you compress your entire saves directory into a single uber file that cant be tampered with and can only be disassembled again when using the backup utility. Sony has been really really really really really really really really slow to do absolutely anything awesome with the OS via firmware updates though, and if the PS4 is just around the corner we're pretty much playing and experiencing the PS3s last legs right now. Overall i'd say it's been kinda "eh". I say that owning well over 300 ps3 games (on disc, no more pirate beard). I just hope to Jebus that the ps4 doesnt ditch backward compatibility or I will rage some more and Mr Silver will learn to fly all over again. (Hopefully in the direction of Sony R&D, but toward Michael Patcher would suffice too)
(I hate that guy)

I suppose, could be worse

When I read the thread title, the first thing that popped into my mind was that you may have dismembered a thumb.
If it comes to it what's wrong with backing them up one at a time? Better than losing them...
It would probably take me several days, without sleeping. You have no idea how many there are. I could sift through and try to find the ones that are worth keeping, but I'd inevitably lose data I don't want to lose.
Mr Gray, nice to have a reason for it. But it's still ridiculous. If someone is silly enough to ruin a game by downloading a save, that's up to them I'd say. Blocking save copying is just annoying, particularly with backwards compatibility and all that, where you may want to move your save elsewhere in the future. There's no way I'd have bought MHFU for my Vita if I couldn't use my old PSP save.

couldnt you copy it to and external hard drive then wipe the ps3's? after that you could restore your saves?
