The 870MCS is officially a troll machine. A rifle scope and slug rounds turn it into a sniper with decent accuracy. It's fun to troll, and people always love you for it.

EDIT: I have a question that maybe some of you guys can help me with. I have been looking at alot of BF3 weapons charts and stats and noticed that a weapons damage is ussualy rated in double digit numbers 50, 34 etc. But i havnt found anywhere stating how many hitpoints each player has. Can anyone shed any light on this ? Cheers.
I'm pretty sure it's 100, and that's how they measured the damage. Like, a knife takes 3 slashes to kill, and it's rated at 33.5 or 34.

Pump action slugs at close range are 100.
Aha, so in that case these double digit figures coule be considered a percentage of the overall health. I.E a ranged M39 EBR shot doing 35 damage does 35% damage. Sweet. Cheers for that.

Also, yesterday i decided to try out some semi-auto shotties. I am just working my way through them and started using the M1014 yesterday. I dont have slugs or decent optics yet but what a bloody great gun up close. With extended mags you can just hipfire your way through multiple enemies. Got a few squad kills with it already. Best game was 35 for 11 on Oman.

Cant wait for slug rounds, and also cant wait to try the Saiga with its magazine reload. Loving the shotties. Gonna stay away from the automatics though. Already been kicked from servers for using pump actions and semi-auto's. Basically shotties in general even though they were not mentioned in the server description.

I doubt it. Some shotguns are 1HK from close range so people will stay back

It has? I did get a surprise face-knife a few days ago. I was pretty embarrassed that it killed me. Now I feel less like a nub for it.

Maybe this means more people will try to charge for a finishing knife slice and walk into shotgun range (I tend towards to DAO without scopes)?

You're right, looks like the recent patch upped the damage from 33. I'm gonna have to do some more slashes in close quarters now. Yesterday someone killed me with a slash which was pretty surprising, but it makes sense now.

If you actually have the knife out, it'd be much easier to get a slash-kill.

^^ Hmm, everytime i've slashed someone with a knife (by accident) its taken 50 off, but slashing a 2nd time takes so long, you won't kill anyone with it unless you trigger the animation

I wonder if *nerf guns* crowd were the same who complained about them being too slow to kill with initially.

I have used the 870 pretty extensively, but had never tried it at range, so yesterday on Gulf Of Oman i created an engineer class using one with Slug rounds, extended mags and an ACOG scope...

WOW ! What a gun. One shot kills at point blank, 2 shot kills out to like 150 metres and i even got 2 and 3 shot kills from just outside flag B right over to flag C. What a great gun.

And for those saying its an OP sniper weapon, it only has seven manually loaded shots and you need to break aim and pump the gun between shots, so its more like a bolt action with the ranged damage of a semi-auto, not OP in any sence if you ask me and pretty realistic as the heavy rounds have a lot of drop. At around 200m i was using the 300 mark to land hits. Its not OP, its pretty realistic and has its drawbacks. Any decent sniper or marksman has a definite ranged advantage.

I have yet to try a semi-auto with slugs, i know they have half the maximum damage up close but im not sure about ranged shots. Gonna try the Saiga tonight and see how it handles.

So you're taking advantage of a weapon that you admit is flawed, but then you get upset when overused flawed weapons get nerfed?

Oh lawd. You know, you could avoid the disappointment by not using broken weapons.
