I did some research and it turns out that the only way to get lvl 9 gems is through the guild store based on the research I did. Turns out the our guild's store doesn't provide any lvl 9 gems. I need these gems to max out my knight's lvl. It seems the only way to get these gems is to leave my current guild and join one that has these gems, but just for a little while then rejoin my old guild. Of course I would help out that guild in return for letting me in. I would let them know what's going on and try to reason with my guild leader aswell. Would doing all this make me a terrible person? Is there another way of obtaining lvl 9 gems? I'm just so confused on what I should do here!

I agree with the previous two posts, and also since I have the Lv. 9 gems and have upgraded my knight, I can tell you you're not missing out on much. Top 10 guild price for the gems is around 260-280K per gem, Top 2 price was about 190K IIRC. Do the math for yourself...you'll need 3 Chromiums and 3 Guardians for your knight, 12 Cromiums in your possession to fully upgrade one TK weapon, and 7 Guardians to fully upgrade an armor piece that requires Vessels, such as the Cyclas, Gilded or Spectral...

...that's a -lot- of guilder those gems require. You have to decide for yourself what you're going to use them for, how many you need and save accordingly. If you don't have the money on hand to buy them right away, you'd be wasting your time if you were to move to a guild that has them available.

Another thought I had regarding the purpose of your topic...one of the things I love to do on my own time is be a guest instructor at one of the police academies my best friend runs in my state. When it comes to teaching in the academies regarding ethics in law enforcement, at least here, it all comes back to one statement...

"If you have to ask the question..."

...meaning that if the question arises in your mind at all, or if you have the slightest shred of doubt, you should not follow that course of action. It's a good rule to follow in all aspects of life. You ultimately have to decide what to do, so my advice is to have fun and follow your conscience. Just my two cents.

What he said.

The only reasons for quitting a guild should be personal, or because you decide you want to help a smaller guild - IMHO of course...

since you don't need any of the equipment requiring level 9 gems for the current quests you probably shouldn't quit your guild. if by chance we get the japanese quests, i believe some of them drop level 9 gems so you still wouldn't need to quit the guild.

Now I'm really tempted. I also never thought dismantling equipment to get mat since I always thougt that was the dumbest thing you can do. But I never knew you can purchase those fancy equipment from a high level guild. I have like 800k to spend from all those gem lvl 6 and 7's I've gotten from those 50 apex runs.
If you're going in to get gems and mats, you need more money. 800k won't go very far. So I suggest: either get more money or plan on staying in that guild for a while.

Al get wrong about his 1st answer, it happen(i raised my eyebrow when i read it)...

Anyway may i add something about this sensible subject :

About the 2 top guildes, i hear they're selling the best guild armors(spectral, guilded & cyclas's sets), no need to use virgos or pisces to bind those, so could people quit their guildes to buy those? I did even regret binding my spectral's set..
same for me with glided

Ah actually my core was Lv.10 (I upgraded it to 11 just now though.) So yes it doesn't really matter to have that extra AP since you can equip what's needed at Lv.11 (even 10); you just might not have enough for all the best Graces possible.

A Lv. 12 Knight gives you 60AP to use as opposed to 55AP that a Lv. 11 Knight gives.

I doubt it enhances any other stats whatsoever and if it does then they are quite small and insignificant to be ignored.

However, with the DLC Knight gear, it's pretty necessary to have a ton of AP if you're knighting up as a Shield and Sword Knight. With each piece costing you 7AP for a rather large amount of def, that gives you only 25 AP left to spend. With the remaining three slots, you want to have the Heroic Barrier to give everyone Fate's Favour, you'll want Champion's Grace (or the magic one if you have more than two mages in your group) for an attack buff and Sage's Grace to have the attack/defence buff that can't be removed by Sovereign's Roar/Madora's Zero Reset. That's another 10AP gone leaving you with just 15AP left if you have a Lv. 12 Knight.

The Lv. 11 Knight with 10AP is enough for the GR 26 Knight sword, spear and hammer but you can't even equip the Elder Shield...
But you'll only need a shield for shield bash and Guardian's Aura anyway so yeah, you really don't need it for the GR26 weapons. When you get the GR27 weapons though... That's different.

Anyway, point being, losing something like seven days worth of tokens isn't a big deal and neither is gaining 5AP for the ability to wear full Adolmaea gear and wear his sword with accompanying graces that it warrants leaving your friend's guild unless you knight often. Even then, you could just go full GR25 armour and still wear the nice weapons.

The biggest advantage to getting access to the top 10 Lv. 10 guilds though, is the ability to buy Charge Drink IVs, Mana Potion Vs and fill up on the other GR26 items you can buy to dismantle into the highest tier harvestable mats (or padding yourself out for the 50 GR26 item trophy).

Don't forget, you'll need the gem 9s for upgrading all the guild armours and vessel armours past 10/15.
If you're gonna make the jump over to a top ten guild, make sure you go loaded with a ton of guilder to buy at least 20 Guardian Gem 9s and I think it's 17 Chromium Gem 9s to get a True King Weapon from 10 to 20. Those gems are like... 280k each or more...

How often do you really use your knight, and is it really that important to strengthen the core right now?

True king weapons are also going to need level 9 gems. Is there a quest that you can't complete without having a true king weapon above +10?
Now that I think of, it's not really all that important to max out my knight's core since I rarely use it anyway. I guess you can say that I'm a person that just wants to get things done and not have to worry about it later on.

And you're right, there isn't a quest that requires me to have a TK weapon....or atleast not right now. My lux bow so far has help me through alot of difficult quests in the past week.

quote Ashern
Do you really need to max out your knight, though? I think my core is at Lv.9, and it does fine for now (does the stats get stronger when you strengthen the core, or only the AP?)
I was wondering the same thing, my core is lvl 11 at the moment and I don't think i noticed any changes since I last raised my core a lvl.

quote Raddyman
I personally do not like how this game has made getting certain items. Top 10, Top 2, what a load of monkeys. So a Guild of close friends cant get their gear up because they can't compete with the 200+ member guilds to secure a Top10 place.
I know right? I just don't think it's fair that a 200+ member guilld gets all the good stuff without doing much, but a 20 or less guild would have to work their butt off. I wish Level 5 could reduced the numbers from 200 (250? I forgot what's the max) to like 50. That way every other guild would atleast have a chance of making the top 10.
