So, now that my area is hitting the 80-90 degree range, it's gotten extremely humid and hot in my house. It started recently. Anywho, a day or so ago I went to play AC: Revelations multiplayer. 10 minutes in, the PC completely freezes, I get a "duh-duh-duh-duh" noise from the sound, and I can't even ctrl+alt+del. I shut down the PC. After an hour, I try playing Minecraft (almost full screen, had it take up about 3/4 of my screen, full is 1920 x 1080). 30 minutes in, does the exact same thing.
Now, I tried playing minecraft AGAIN, and had task manager open with performance up, to monitor what happened. It happened for a third time. Unfortunately the task manager was covered up by minecraft, but I could make out one of my cores reaching a really high usage for about a minute or two before it crashed. I've never had this problem before with a game, so I figured it was the heat and humidity, since the strong heat came to my area within a day or two before this happening. I also opened up my case after one crash, and noticed my CPU heatsink was quite hot. So I'm assuming this is a problem with the airflow in my case.
So, once I get paid, I'm going to get a new heatsink for my CPU, and a backplate case fan. Considering the only fans that I have in my case are the PSU fan and the CPU fan, it would probably be a good idea. I really don't want to be spending more than $40 for both. Can you guys help me pick out what I should get, from Newegg? Thanks.

The Coolermaster Hyper 212+ or the Deepcool Frostwin are very good cheap coolers $29-$39 repectably.

Got a link for them cheap? Starting price with tax and shipping that I can see on google is around 70 :/ Newegg has their page for it deactivated. Also there's the issue of tweaking the case to fit any of those coolers as it has the funnel stack coming in from the side panel. Unfortunately even if you take of the extension sleeve it will still make contact on one of those :/

You can actually try the ARCTIC Freezer 64 PRO. It's cheap and performance level is not bad at all. but before you buy a cooler, you can first check whether the thermal paste has gone bad so you have a temperature.

Not really true, I've had my 6850 crash out in the mid 70's as well :/ honestly it's a bit of a mystery unless this whole thing was just bad seating? Would be nice to see if the problem is still even continuing at this point as well after putting it through AC and Minecraft again. (missed that update post)
The stock cooler is pretty bad though so any upgrades are going to reap benefits, even just throwing a BE cooler on there would be a step up.
All aluminium from a single block. Also if any of our suggestions went through it might be wise to remove that funnel from the case as it will conflict with cooler height. :/
