At the same time Legend of Dragoon was announced to be coming to the PSN on May 1st, president of Sony CE Shu Yoshida, also mentioned that Legend of Dragoon 2 had gone into pre-production but was cancelled shortly after. For some unknown reason Sony scrapped the project and decided to stop production on the game and send their team members to other projects.

This is really sad news for the Legend of Dragoon community as this has been a highly anticipated sequel. I was pretty upset when I read the article but then it got me thinking. If the game sells enough in the PSN and a fanbase gets together it might be possible that Sony could pick up the project again or possibly do a remake.

What is everyones thoughts in this?

I still occasionally hear from fans of The Legend of Dragoon, and many want to know if there is a sequel. LOD2 was put into preproduction after I left the Japan Studio, but was eventually cancelled for some unknown reason, and the team members moved on to different projects. Some people still work in the Japan Studio, so we talk about the memories of developing LOD when we see each other at company functions.

I'd fully support a second one. Oh the nostalgia it would bring about. Between a LoD2 and the fabled Chrono Break I'd be in heaven. But sadly games don't come in the quality that they used to, so it's possible they wouldn't have that 'epic' feel to them.

LOD is such a great game that I don't think a sequel would be good for it. It would never bring it justice, and may add portions to the story - whether as a prequel or sequel - that may change, diminish, or undermine the greatness of the original. Sequels have the capacity of ruining the memories we have of LOD - there is no way a game made now would live up to the expectations of us fans. I say, let it rest in peace.

The first game had an awesome ending. A sequel would make no sense. However a remake or prequel would be sick. With todays graphics adding a few more bosses and keeping the original fighting style. I see big things coming out of this.

Hey guys, I'm here to help spread this petition around: https://www.change.org/petitions/sony-release-dart-as-playstation-all-stars-dlc
It involves getting Dart as a DLC character in Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. As you can see, his model was already made and he was primed for release but for some reason he, along with Abe from Oddworld, were scrapped from being released. It really irks me that they would release Zeus and Isaac (two characters barely anyone asked for), but not release two critically acclaimed Playstation characters. Please sign and pass this around, we want to be heard and maybe in the end we can see interest rise again for Dart and Legend of Dragoon. Thank you for your time.

I can't say LOD got me into RPGs as I did play the original final fantasy on NES when it first dropped giving away my age a little but haha, but I did thoroughly enjoy LOD I picked it up on psn so I can FINALLY finish it (my hard copy was broken by an idiot before I got to disk 4 ) the reason it didn't make money the first go around is because it was released after the PS2 came out and it didn't have final fantasy in the title unfortunately so people didn't bother with it...but if Sony does a LOD pre/sequel it will make a good profit not only from original fans but from new generation of fans...unfortunately Sony is a BUSINESS and they don't make games for The fans, they make games they think will make them the most money...it will be epic if they made another Legend of Dragoon, but I won't be counting on it, the same reason square-enix doesn't remake FF7 they don't want to waste their time and "talent" ...if u can call it talent ever since the merger with enix they have gone down in quality... They don't want to waste time on something only a specific group of people are requesting... Anyhow I DO want a LOD remake or sequel it would be amazing and I would buy multiple copies...

General reader of the Neoseeker forum but not a poster... until i found this.

Legend Of Dragoon will always hold a place in my mind as one of the best JRPG's ever. Not sure if it was the age i was playing it or the pure awesomeness of the game but it captured an essence of life not present in many of the video games released previously & today.

I had no idea there was thought's and plans of a Legend of Dragoon 2 but now like the above post am very sad to hear it was discontinued and can only hope in the future of the next gen consoles that they hold enough power to again create a new Legend of Dragoon haha.

I used to rent the game out at my local video store (stupid i know as i rented it something like 7 times to finish it haha)
I was still renting it for the 2nd playthrough when another person had taken the game home and returned it with other crappy random PS games in the case. I was devo'ed and searched every video game store for the game to no avail.

One day a couple of years later i learnt that games could be copied on cumputer, burnt and played on modded PS's. That was an awesome day and i then knew another person with a copy of the game and was able to copy it myself and organised a modded PS just to play the game again.

Best game ever. I'm going to download again on the PS for childhood nostalgia and hope that a Legend Of Dragoon 2 begins development again!
