Well let me clarify as I was pretty tired when I first wrote this.

In the Thinker's Lounge you have a thread for Dating Advice, something that would probably have been given a Romance forum or something under normal circumstances.
What I'm suggesting is perhaps doing the same thing for the Academics, allowing the general education talk, stuff like the importance of college or whatever, into Loungin' or Thinker's Lounge and giving the sub-forum for Homework help it's own thread like the Dating Advice.
Gives it more traffic and, ideally, pushes members to post more and help out.

I just figure that Thinker's Lounge would be good to house the general Academia talk and give Homework help it's own thread considering you just need one post to answer someone's question and constantly having forums created is a bit pointless. Then have people bump their request for help every once in a while.

Does that make more sense?

Yeah, I don't think this is a good idea. I posted there a fair bit when it was first started (admittedly only because Praetorian_Lord was mod there) but scrapping the forum all together for a general thread in either Loungin' or TL is not a good step forward. The forum just needs a bit more exposure, as it is a good idea for a forum, and more people should be using it. We're trying to encourage people to make more threads in forums these days, with the aim of getting rid of "General" threads, so this would be a massive step backwards in that respect.

it would be better if it was a subforum and a featured forum. getting rid of it completely would be counter-productive.

The Academia forum is a good idea, a legitimate place to discuss things about your education and ask for help in the homework sub-forum. Only problem is that this forum doesn't exactly get that much traffic for these types of things.
Because really, half the time you'll find the topics brought up in the Academia Forum pop up in Loungin' anyways. So scrapping the forum wouldn't really do much harm.
Homework & Tutoring could get it's own thread over in Loungin' as well, sticky it and just add in a tagline about the thread being serious questions/answers only.
Or toss it into Thinker's Lounge and have it be it's own thread like the Dating Advice thread.

Just a thought.
