...are Japan, Egypt and World War 2.

quote
“People on the internet suggest the most boring settings,” Hutchinson mused when we asked him whether he’d considered certain hotly demanded alternatives. “The three most wanted are WWII, feudal Japan and Egypt. They’re kind of the three worst settings for an AC game.”
Hutchinson has time for India, at least. “[Assassin's Creed 3 writer Corey May] really wants to do India, ” he told us, less the square brackets. “I would too. I’d really love to do the Raj.”[/ul]

I personally agree with him. When there was speculation about this game being set in WWII, I didn't get why people were so excited about it. It didn't appeal to me in the slightest and, or me, is probably the worst direction AC can go in.

Dragoon do you think they'll ever experiment with a future setting or would that destroy the purpose of all real settings in the past?
I honestly don't know where they are going with the series after III. The entire story has been built around the use of the animus to go to the past to fight off Templars and stop the end of the world. I can't see where they can go that's new with that idea. Of course they could do away with the Animus idea (since that seems to have got them in a lot of hot water recently lol) and just do a modern / futuristic assassin game - but then I don't know, removing the animus is more or less removing the one thing they've built the franchise around.

It's a tough one to crack, but I don't see why they can't pull it off. They've created a highly successful series that they've promised to continue after desmond, but there is no guarantee that Desmond will succeed in his mission to stop the templars.
Hmm, removing the animus does sound like it would take away possibly their biggest selling point. Maybe if a future setting was one that Desmond takes control of? I haven't played any game since 2, but I remember Desmond's role being more important in that one and I thought that was significant.[/div]
Well I can't reveal too much without spoiling it for you, but his heritage is significant and goes beyond that of Altair and Ezio... way beyond.

ACR Spoilers
What I would like to see if some more of Subject 4 (Daniel Cross) and his involvement with Abstergo. If you've played the Multiplayer of ACR he's referenced a lot in there to the extent where you hear his voice off screen, talking to Warren Vidic. Really like to see a climactic showdown between Desmond and Daniel, since Cross is currently after his father, William (Bill) Miles. So maybe some exaction of revenge for his fathers death is in the future of the game? Who knows! I'm looking forward to it nevertheless.

Also, we're definitely going to see Subject 16 again, his ending was too quick and brushed off for it not to mean anything haha! Can't wait to perhaps seeing 16 come through 17 and maybe killing 4? Or Warren? There will definitely be an internal struggle though (or at least I'd like there to be) while 16 tries to take full control of Desmond while Desmond tries to keep his control. Maybe 16 will be a protagonist-turned-antagonist... SO MANY AWESOME POSSIBILITIES. GOD DAMN IT UBISOFT.

Man, World War II sounds horrific for an Assassin's Creed setting - I've no idea why that would be a suitable setting. Crossing World at War with Assassin's Creed doesn't sound like a nice idea! It's hard to think of a better or appropriate setting like the ones they've already chosen - admittedly I feel the American Revolution is their finest choice.[/div]
I'd have preferred maybe one set in China, linking back to Assassin's Creed Embers a little bit but what they've done with the American Revolution and this game is fantastic anyway. So no room for complaints from me. =P

JFK, John Lennon and Diana were Templars. I'm telling ya.

Germany and the Nazis is so overdone though... YAWN.

Constantinople is better than Egypt? :(
This is a matter of opinion.

If Egypt is so popular, why is it bad?

And in all fairness, as much as I'm up for ACIII, I really don't think America is going to have the same effect Italy and Masyaf have had. I dunno, America doesn't feel foreign enough, even for us British folk.

China would have been awesome.

I disagree. Whats not to like about assassins taking down nazis? The templars fit well as the nazis. Taking over Europe, controlling and brainstorming everyone. I still think its pretty cool. But, judging by the direction AC is going, they probably won't do WW2.
True, but you can't really do much story-wise. While a lot of the war was polical warfare, the end result is Germany surrendering, a pretty lame end for an Assassin's Creed game. Although it would be awesome to see them tackle Hitler's death. If they decide to do WWII it should be as they're planning with ACIII, the war is there, but it's not a main focal point of the story.
Infiltrating Nazi Germany and assassinating top nazi generals sounds pretty cool to me
