I actually always pictured Tali with a face similar to the photo found in Man sheps room. But here's the thing, Tali is Bioware's creation. They can make her look as human, or a unhuman as they want. Tali's face is a bit thinner than her model's, and those nifty tattoos. I like how she looks in the picture.
It's not really that for me, it's that they were so lazy about it. They stole (borrowed?) a stock image and just quickly edited it. That just shows no dedication or care at all to the fans.
Hell Fire it may have been easier but they probably would have had to go and find one and pay a bit of money. They wouldn't want to do that.

Hell Fire
I always wanted to see Tali unmasked. Today I unfortunately chose a Geth related option so that won't ever be happening in game for me.
As for stealing a stock image, I find it amusing. How easy would it have been to take a photo of a model or something?
Quarians hands are wrong and nothing like Tali's or any other quarians in game, and while they where supposed to be human looking, they weren't supposed to be human. Long hair in tight enviro-suits, outside in the open without enviro-suits despite it being extremely dangerous, where she had the time to take such a picture and where (how could she feel so comfortable as to leave out her enviro suit?) .
Not canon by default due to massive ignorance/laziness/stupidity/all of the above.
I agree with the hand being wrong. I do think the picture is a lazy move by Bioware which is the main problem here, not the actual representation of the Quarian race. Let's face it, if the image wouldn't have been retrieved on the web and cheaply modified on photoshop, far less people would have complained. As a matter of fact, it looks pretty similar to this representative of Tali that so many people like...well looks similar in a cheap way...[link name=]http://browse.deviantart.com/?order=9&q=tali&offset=24#/d3atepj[/link].
Also, pretty much all races closely look like human in the Mass Effect universe except Hanar and Elcor I guess. What are the chances that alien races would look like a mix between a lizard and a human for example (ex: Drell AND Turian).
As far as long hairs go, it has only been 300 years if I remember correctly since Quarian had to wear the suits, that's not that long to lose a genetic trait especially if it doesn't directly influence your survival. I will take modern humans as the perfect example of that...we still grow hairs even though it's not needed in most areas of our body...
As far as the picture go, once again I blame Bioware for not altering the picture a bit more. However, with her tech expertise, Tali could have used her drone to take the picture or her omnitool and modify the background in the picture...yeah. I doubt that but it could ! Quarians need to remove their suits once in a while (in a sterile room) to do repairs and such so my guess is that the picture would have been taken during one of those times.
As far as the skeleton screenshot goes, it does look more human than quarian just by judging the leg bones. The equivalent of the tibia and fibula is / are straight like they would be on a human skeleton. Judging by the quarian legs, they would need to be slightly curved on a quarian skeleton. Also if it's the same crash site I'm thinking about (the one with one survivor), it wouldn't have been long enough for the body to be completely decomposed down to the skeleton.

Wow I just don't get why they would be this lazy. I mean common.
It's not like it is a big deal at all to me I just find it pretty funny. She definitely is hot though.
