what weapon is the best to use after the drake sword? (for a knight, who uses shield and a onehanded weapon) I remember I use the drake sword WAY too long, but thats because I found no suitable weapon and I didnt get the concept of upgrading your weapon.
I liked the battle axe and I could upgrade to to +5. good?
I remember there was this lightning spear weapon. anyone know what I mean and where it can be found?
and does anyone have anyother ideads?

for strength nothing beats the zweihander and if you add the lightning effect and buff that to +5 then you get one helluva sword combined with +5 giants armor with havel's ring and the darkwood grain ring you have a practically invincible juggernaut character (Note: PvP players will hate you).

One thing that makes an early venture into the dangerous Catacombs worthwhile is the Great Scythe. Although the Halberd basically serves the same functions and is much easier to obtain for new players, the Great Scythe has a pretty kick-ass skill set, a bleed effect, and some amazing range to boot.

Without proper information on the build, regarding stats and all, it's rather difficult to judge which weapon is ideal for you. For a reasonably high strength stat, a Zweihander is a good option, good damage without requiring extreme stats. If you don't want to upgrade your strength past the breakpoint of 31, you should probably make it into a lightning weapon. For balance of strength and dex (Maybe around 30 each), the Claymore does some pretty respectable damage at +15, and it's got the stunlock capability as well, although with it's nerf that came with the DLC, not as much as it used to. If you have a very high strength stat (I'm talking around 50 strength), the Black Knight Great Axe, the Demon's Greataxe and the Demon Great Machete are all good choices. You can try out the Large Club too, if you don't like the aforementioned weapons' moveset. For a very high dex stat, the Uchigatana, the Balder Side Sword, the Gold Tracer (If you have DLC), or the Painting Guardian Sword will impress. You can't buff the Gold Tracer, so if you have high Int or high Faith you should use the Painting Guardian Sword over it. Lastly, if you have low of both strength and dexterity, a Lightning Uchigatana, or a Quelaag's Furysword is your best bet. You shouldn't really take my words for granted though. I tend to say, go with the flow. Go with what you enjoy using the most. It seems pretty obvious, but there's not a single "Best weapon", in Dark Souls. You're the one who will make that decision.
P.S. I just noticed this thread is like a year old, lol

On the other hand you can't make it lightning until you get to Anor Londo and by that time you can have all kinds of weapons, and you need something fun to get there as well.

the lightning swayhander is a wery good weapon for most of the game you can get it right next to firelink shrine.

No one mentioned the Halberd? This guy obviously can't get a Fury, Fire or Chaos weapon yet or he wouldn't be asking. His first lightning weapon is probably the spear.
Anyway... I like the Halberd for the R1 Thrust and spin followup or R2 spin attack. Both two hand moves are spin attacks. The big benefit is the length, move selection utility, great damage, and R1 doesn't get foiled by tight spaces. For a caster or low HP character the R1 thrust can be done well back from whatever you are fighting, tends to stun, is quickly repeatable and doesn't go too hard on the stamina even for low level characters. To miss you would have to be standing too far back in the first place which helps to not get punished.
At upgrade level +10 its tough and at +15 out damages my +10 fire scythe or my +5 chaos greatscythe -- as a Cleric. With more STR and DEX that would change of course. Plus you can enchant it. With the Darkmoon or Crystal Magic Weapon it gets pretty good figures. I am a level 120 cleric and with Darkmoon it does 580 in a thrust on a undead slug. A large sweep works great for low level soul farming in Painted World of Aramis once the door is open.
Not saying it is the best, but it is early accessable and very useful.

A good weapon is the grave lord sword which you can accuire by joining nitos covenent in the catacombs

If you can suicide into the catacombs you can gt the gravelord greatsword, it's better than the drake and causes toxic effect. And at +5 it's still decent in ng+. As for an armor set I would recommend the black iron set, it's found in anor londo and when fully upgraded has the 3rd best physical def in the game and is lighter than smoughs/giant armor sets

I think the dragonslayer spear is a good one handed weapon for a knight build. It's long and allows you to easily line up and kill multiple enemies at once or jab them to keep your distance. It gets a C in str, B in dex, and after the patch also a B in faith. So if you are a tank with faith, this weapon is awesome. However, I will say that the Qualog Sword is also an excellent one handed weapon, or even the lightning washing poll.
