Does anybody actually do that? A lot of disclaimers (often on booting up a game) advise somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 minute breaks for every hour or so of gaming.
I never abide by it, and I haven't heard of anybody that DOES.
I usually keep going until I don't want to play anymore, have something I need to do, or in some cases develop a headache.
So how often do you game before taking a break? What about other other media (Videos, reading, computer-using)?
Told you I'd do this LOD-squa XD Now go and add relevant tags you think the thread should have >_>
EDIT: Odd, it only displays one of my tags....Now it works...

I don't play games that often (except things like Angry Birds) but when I did play PS2/PS3 I used to try to obey this rule but that was mainly because my eyes would start to ache after about 2 hours or so if I didn't!
To be honest, I think using my laptop and reading my books is much worse as I'm sitting much closer and my eyesight has got a helluva lot worse at uni! Evidence there.

I always just assumed such warnings are for the Japanese-I-glue-my-wii-remote-to-my-hand-esque people who never see the light of day, and then turn around and complain about poor health

I never do, but I should really start trying to. When you're so involved in a game you just forget to take breaks. I've been playing a new game pretty solidly for the past few days and I've gotten bad headaches and one of my eyes was bloodshot to hell when I woke up this morning.
So yeah, I'm going to try and take breaks more often.
Like hell. Gaming's what I do when I'm taking a break from something else. Jesus, they make it sound like a freaking chore.
Yo dawg, I heard you like breaks, so we put a break in your break.
Spoiler:
So sorry if you people don't like old memes but it's relelvant here.

Taking a 15 minute break would be a rarity for me, unless I am getting something to eat. Sometimes, I wonder if people should really take a 30 minute break, because you are in one position for a long time with minimal movement (unless you are using Kinect, Wii, or Motion, but still you should take a break from that).

When I'm in a gaming mood, I might take a 3 minute break every 3 HOURS. But I don't play games as much as I did. If my parents said- 'Time for a 15 minute break' I would say 'Fine, compromise- I'll get up and have a drink and a bite to eat'. 1 minute and I'm back on again .

It's just to be on the safe side, so that nobody can sue. They know very well that nobody is going to take 1/4 of their game time out for breaks every single hour, therefore they know if someone has a complaint then they can get away with dismissing it through pointing to their warning.
I do agree that it's a good idea to take breaks away from the screen if you're playing a game or on a computer for long periods of time. I tend to do this a lot when I'm writing essays because it makes my eyes tired, plus it's just a good excuse to stop what i'm doing and get a cake.

15 minute breaks per hour are wasting the my game time! I'm only getting 45 minutes per hour instead of 60 minutes per hour gaming! The breaks come from loading screens.

Not always. A lot of people never do it - but for me it's a 25% chance I'm seen doing it.
