quote Starz
On the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus that concluded "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," the gladiator rebellion continues and begins to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic in "Spartacus: Vengeance." Gaius Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads before it can inflict further damage. Spartacus is presented the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man that condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart. Containing all of the blood-soaked action, exotic sexuality, and villainy and heroism that has come to distinguish the series, the tale of Spartacus resumes in epic fashion.

The first season, Blood and Sand, started out shitty, but I grew to like the political intrigue woven into the backdrop of Gladiator fights, and John Hannah as the antagonist stole the show. Gods of the Arena maintained a high quality throughout the season, I thought. It's a pity Andy Whitfield (RIP) won't be back as Spartacus, but I'm looking forward to the premiere on the coming 27th.

I too don't like McIntyre as Spartacus either but the glaring issue for me is the constant cuts during the fight scenes.

Fair enough if McIntyre can't fight, but Bennett can. Why chop up his fights?

I am starting to enjoy this season but I still don't like Liam McIntyre as Spartacus and the more I see this Gannicus guy (I haven't seen Gods of the Arena yet, I'm going to do so soon) the more I wish they had replaced Andy's Spartacus with him.

Does anyone know who this (Ilithyia's) slave is (real name or name on the show)?

I can't seem to find her name anywhere.

As for the show, I'm playing catch-up with Vengeance having re-run through the previous 2 to get me up to scratch. I've watched the first 4 episodes so far and I'm enjoying it. I didn't know how they'd manage to make the transition from the ludas to the streets of Rome, and especially with the death of the star man and the killing off of John Hannah. But they've managed to pull it off and they still keep you feeling right at home with the arena and the ludas still very much in the backdrop (so far anyway). The cast is so good that I find myself thinking "if he dies then I don't think I could watch it any more", that's just how well it's been put together, and the 'villains' you just long for their deaths.

Liam McIntyre's doing a decent job but he's never going to be able to fill Andy Whitfield's boots.

well nothing has really changed expect the main actor. the background is the same and with the fact that they are now free the action won't take place in the same house over and over again

i love the show. ;seen two episodes from the new season and although the feeling is different because of the new actor (RIP for the old one) the show is still superb

The Spartacus bits in E04 were cool and all, but the scenes in Capua were excellent. The political side of the show is now in full swing, can't wait to see what happens in the next episode.

I didn't enjoy Spartacus: Blood and Sand when it was aired originally and gave up after a few episodes. Recently got back into it when they re-aired it and was pleasantly surprised at how much I got into the story. Now watching Vengeance and really enjoying it although definitely is weird with a few of the main characters being replaced. Obviously Andy Whitfield had to be replaced but not sure why they changed Naevia.

Episode 3 has been up for a few days at least.

I still really don't like the constant cuts during the fight scenes, but the story arch is really well done.
