You will need a proper encoder for converting to mp3, but essentially you want either mp3 VBR (variable bit rate) V0 or a CBR (constant bit rate) mp3 with a minimum of 256kbps, and 320kbps preferred.

I have an iPod, and I use iTunes to get my MP3s on it. Now, I want my music to be at the highest quality possible. Is it possible to rip a song as an MP3 and maintain all the quality? And if so, how many kbps should I aim for in the ripping process?
