I discovered the ULTIMATE way to get rich quick! All you need is a pot. Go to Raul's shop, and when he's selling rice, FILL UP ALL YOUR BAG SLOTS with as much rice as you can physically carry! Spend ALL your money doing this. Then go back to your farm, cook ALL the rice in your pot, and you will have a crap-load of cooked rice. Then, if you want even MORE profit, make ALL the cooked rice into the pot again to make Rice Porridge. Then ship ALL the rice porridge, and repeat for as long as the day goes, or however much you can be bothered. The next day, YOU WILL HAVE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS WORTH OF PROFIT! Cha-ching! And you can do this for as long as you want. Millionaire in no time.

I found that simply watering crops depletes so much stamina that I need to replenish it by eating into my food stocks - stocks that I could've sold instead for easy cash. Is there a workaround, or have I missed something? (This is my first Harvest Moon btw)

I am sorry but I have to point this out to you, I am not trying to be rude but I did some looking up on prices before trying your idea.
I agree selling the cooked rice is a good idea, BUT not the rice porridge, and here is why:

These are the prices for:
Cooked Rice= 144 G | 192 G | 240 G | 288 G | 336 G
Rice Porridge= 138 G | 184 G | 230 G | 276 G | 322 G

The prices are in order of the items star rank, and as you can see if you turn cooked rice into the porridge you are loosing profit, sure not much per single thing. But it does add up.
Sorry i forgot to add one last thing I made a HUGE profit buy selling Spicy Curry. I had to buy alot to get Dirk to 3 flowers so I could marry Kana (I managed and we just got married lol) But what I am getting at is I had 18 Spicy curry left over and they were starting to go bad to I decided to sell them, I made 27,648g from them. I know chili peppers are expensive, but very much worth it. (Heads up everyone's prices may very I have a high cooking level so my curry was at 4 and a half stars)
Spicy Curry= 768 G | 1024 G | 1284 G | 1536 G | 1792 G
