Apologies if this is in the wrong section but I was just wondering which ones are the best to use for COD and if anyone's got any recommendations?

Cheers

Turtle beaches are not just useful for hearing footsteps.

Turtle beach's don't give you much of an advantage in MW3 the sound over all sucks because footsteps are barely there and you cant even adjust the volume properly so if your gonna get a set just for MW3 I wouldn't bother
Headsets have nothing to do with that, footsteps in this game are just poor.
Thats what I said and its why I said if he's going to get them for just for MW3 there is no real point

I notice alot of people making decisions on headsets based solely on footsteps.

Footsteps are just one reason why Souround sound headsets can be a good idea, there are many many more.

- The sound quality is ussually much, much better
- You can have full volume at any time, day or night
- You can tell where grenades land
- You can tell in which direction enemy air support is and use cover accordingly
- You can tell from which direction an enemy shot came
- You can tell through how many and what kinds of surfaces enemies are, and get a direction
- You can tell where team mates are from the characters in game voices
- You can hear where claymores and other equipment are as they make a sound when armed
- On a multifloor area you can tell if an enemy dot is above or bellow, and to what extent
- You can naturally and instantly know where the main action is on the map
- You can acccurately hear and get a direction of enviromental effects like windows smashing or fall damage
- You can locate enemies from their reload sounds
- You can tell where silenced weapons are shooting from with no UAV
- Oh.. and you can tell where enemies are from their footsteps ofcourse

And the best thing is you will start doing all of this automatically. I still learn new ways to use them all the time, they must have got me several thousand kills in the year iv owned them, and ofcourse saved my arse several thousand times.

Sure i use my beaches to locate enemy footsteps, but 90% of the time im using them for a multitude of other things, i probably havnt even listed them all. For me they are just an all round game enhancer. I feel weird playing without em now.

Not to mention ofcourse that they are great fun. Nothing like ducking as rocket comes from behind wooshing over your head, or diving behind a wall as an AC-130 shell comes screaming in and exploding beside your cover. Not to mention being stabbed in the back. I crap myself every time.

PX21's work on all platforms and do the job well enough for me.

Better than Black Ops, but nowhere near MW2. People still get into a knifing position before I hear them, then it's too late.

Which are the better headsets I can buy guys? I'm looking for ones that will be compatible for both Xbox and PC. Turtle Beaches better be more reliable now, I bought a pair of X1's 2 maybe 3 years ago and they broke within a few months, they're just dodgy PC headphones now.

And for what it's worth, I've found myself soundwhoring without a headset. People running without dead silence are pretty loud.
Turtle beach (Charlie works for both 360 and PC)
That doesn't come with wires that allow it to work on an Xbox, do you know which ones that do?

Unfortunately i don't know of any others that work with 360 but the only thing you would have to do with the Charlie is buy the additional cables, it is kinda a hustle but possibly worth it depending on how often it will be used with the Xbox BTW the cable to connect it to work with the 360 is $5.95+tax

From what people have said on here and from reviews on the internet I think I'm gonna have to go with the X11's tbh, from what I can see they're pretty decent and you don't lose much compared to the more pricey ones so im sold! I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers
