Because it's more suited to the younger audience who do not like to post in Loungin'
Does it still matter if you still like Pokemon? Is it a sitewide rule that you have to have posted in a Pokemon forum to use the PokeLounge?
Not to sound like an ass or anything, but when you have doubts about whether there exists a certain sitewide rule or not, you can always go read the sitewide rules on your own.
PokéLounge just for kids and Loungin' for Adult and Teenagers. Their rules is same with Loungin' forum which are restricter. I would say 8-15 for PokeLounge and 16-45 for Loungin'.
LOL you make it sound like if you're 15 years old you can't go to loungin' op don't be confused, there's no age limit on any of these lounges
although there might be an age limit to neoseeker but no one really cares about that rule, lol

So...is it safe to assume the PokeLounge is the same as Loungin' but the rules are much stricter?
i wouldn't say they're MUCH stricter, but it's a lounge for younger children lol so basically you should just refrain from introducing sketchy, super mature material in there
I explained this to you in a PM a couple of weeks ago. -_-
Pff, obviously the members in the Q&A forum knows better than your experience from 6 mod spots, 5 wiki positions, 50k posts and 9 years on the site
But in all seriousness, castlewars, if you've PMed someone like Gotenks to get an answer for a question you can quite safely say that it's not going to be bad advice. You don't necessarily need to post an entire thread just to get a second opinion. You could even PM one of the moderators of the PokeLounge directly and ask!

Maybe he needed a second opinion?

Socials grew out of the need to home communities that grew exponentially. Pokemon, across the forums, had a big enough community to warrant their own lounge.

PokéLounge is simply loungin' but directed at a younger audience. That's all that really matters, here. ;o No need to actually be a pokemon fan or anything.

Not really rules, just the environmental feel and attitude is different from Loungin'.
The rules aren't stricter, there's just different tolerance levels.
