This is your typical type of figure. Usually in 1/6 or 1/8 scale (so between 7-9 inches tall) and 5000-7000 yen in price depending on the detail and company producing it.
Spoiler:Prize Figures
Similiar to PVC figures, Prize Figures are made from cheaper material and have average quality. However, they are only between 500-1500 yen in price. There are some Prize Figures out there though with an amazing amount of quality, so some of them might just surprise you. They get their name because most of them are won in Japanese lottery arcade machines, but some websites also sell them.
Spoiler:Figma
Quite short at around 5-6 inches and around 3000 yen in price, Figmas are completely poseable, so you can have them in pretty much any pose or position you want. They also come with lots of accessories and alternative facial expressions.
Spoiler:Nendoroid
Skyrocketing in popularity in the past few years, Nendoroids are quite short at 4-5 inches, and approx 2000-3000 yen in price. Like Figmas they come with lots of accessories and alternate facial expressions, and in some cases even an extra body (pictured). There are poseable arm, leg and neck joints, giving you some freedom in how you'd like to display your Nendo.
Spoiler:Nendoroid Petit
As the name suggests, Nendoroid Petits are just tiny Nendos, typically around 2.5 inches tall but quite cheap at around £5-£10 individually. In the majority of cases Nendo Petits are extremely detailed for their size, and look adorable to boot.
Spoiler:Trading Figure
4-5 inches tall and around the £5 mark, Trading Figures typically don't have very much detail, but in the past couple of years their quality has been increasing.
Spoiler:Garage Kits
Garage Kits or "GK's" are figures that you buy unpainted (and usually in bits) that you assemble and paint yourself. For this reason some of them are quite rare, and probably not really worth the hassle. Their quality can differ widely as well.
- Figure Buying FAQ -
Spoiler:
Aren't Figures ridiculously expensive?? Not necessarily. Some sites only have super high prices because they buy from the Japanese sites and then sell to Western audiences for an inflated price. There are some really great and easy to use Japan sites that won't break the bank, with average shipping between 2000-3000 yen (and you can combine shipping on items too). It all depends if the individual figure is worth it for you.
Okay...So where the best places to order from? I haven't got a clue. Here are the sites I would recommend and why:
AmiAmi: Really easy site to navigate, reliable, tend to have stuff cheaper than anywhere else.
HobbySearch: Not as good as AmiAmi, but sometimes have some great offers, and they give you the option to freely cancel pre-orders you make if you change your mind within a certain time.
Mandarake: This is where my gf and I do the majority of our figure buying. Mandarake is a second-hand figure site that updates daily with many cheap (and sometimes incredibly rare and discontinued) figures. Highly recommended.
I don't know much about Figures so I wouldn't know what to buy. MyFigureCollection.net is the largest Figure database on the Internet. Simply type the character name or series name into the search bar and it'll provide all~ the different figures to choice from.
Even better, create an account on the site and you can make wishlists, ordered lists, and owned lists to keep track of everything. Another awesome tip, is to go onto the page of a Figure you're interested in, tick the check-box for "Comments", and you will receive e-mail updates whenever someone comments on that Figure's page. Somebody will ALWAYS comment when pre-orders for that Figure open, or if they've seen it somewhere for an amazing price. That way you don't have to keep checking various sites seeing if the Figure you want is available yet!

Thread Recap (last 10 posts from newest to oldest)
Well for some reason I got another fig. No thanks to kluck for his lack of effort to stop me from buying it, and even directing me to the website I found it on for cheap.
Low quality picture because my Vita is all I have on me right now.
