It used to be really good but then they lost alot with X but it was still pretty good then they had the horrible online one which hurt it's reputation and then the offline MMO that was XII was still okay but not that good. But with this latest batch FF is just complete crap. XIII is the most boring rpg I have seen in years, and XIV is a massive bomb, XIII's sequel looks even worse and now I'm even losing hope for versus and zero.
What I don't get is why these crappy games get good rating and sell (mainly FFXIII) despite well being extremely horrible. Are people really just that blinded by loyalty or did SE pay reviewers off?

Never wanted to play Kingdom Hearts as it doesn't register to me really as part of the FF series. FF13 and FF13-2 were pretty embarrassing.

I don't understand why IX is in everyone's lists of favorites. Cut-scene time vs. playing time had horrible proportion. I felt like I was playing the first 2 hours of Kingdom Hears 2, when you play as Roxas.

I've played FF1,2,3,4,6,7CC,13 and the two Dissidias, and I enjoy all of them. I had fun playing each of them and I don't get why people just have to hate on the games. Sure, you might dislike the game because it doesn't suit your tastes. It still doesn't give you any reason to hate the game and its developers and say that they have become crap. They didn't do anything to you, they didn't kill your loved ones, you have no real reason to hate them to the point of shitting on them(not literally).
If you say that the storyline in a certain FF game is terrible, its just your personal opinion because I could sit through Ar tonelico Qoga's story and enjoy it a great deal because I'm just weird like that.
I think this is what most of the original FF fans would say. I put FFVII around the same level as FFV because it has awesome moments (Aeris' death, flight to space, everything about Vincent) just like FFV did (Galuf's death, Big Bridge battle, Exdeath's Void attacks) but overall isn't THAT great of an experience in comparison to the other games.

In my personal opinion, i found FFVII to be a good game, but in no way as groundbreaking of wonderful as everyone claims. When they chose VII to make tons of spin-offs i was looking forward to it. But then stuff like Last Order, the FFVII Movie and the rest came out, i was horribly disappointed. Dirge of Cerberus was okay, as long as i 'forgot' that it was a Final Fantasy game.
I myself find FFVI to be one of the best FF games. Lots of characters, yes, but they all have their own story which doesn't feel forced. The game itself tells a great story and a great soundtrack to boot.
I declined around FF X. I still played and finished X a few times. It's an okay game, but Tidus got very annoying later on and the story made weird jumps from time to time.
I was raised with FF I and for that simple reason i love it. It's simple, but it a cute little game that still holds up if you ask me. Later i got my hands on FFII but i was a bit disappointed by it. When i got a SNES for my birthday, many, many years ago i played FF IV and V to death.
When i finally got enough money i bought myself a Playstation and Final Fantasy 8 and 9. Many people tend to dislike 8 because of enemies leveling with you and the Junction system, but i thought it was pretty good. I didn't care to much about the the romance between Rinoa and Squall even though it was the main drive of the game. But i still liked it. I also found FF9 to be a good game. It was meant as a sort of tribute and i see it as an end of an era. I appreciated all the little hints to older FF games and how they used some reworked-music for the game.
I never got to play XI or XIII so i can't really comment on those, but i did play XII for a while. XII is fun, but i found it annoying that it had to be set in Ivalice. Tactics Advance almost ruined the original Tactics for me just by using the name Ivalice.
But to bring this to an end. My favorite FF games are 1, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9. Along with some of the side/spin off games like Seiken Densetsu and Chrono.
Your character assessments are funny, but you forgot Vincent, and he adds quite a lot.
I thought the chase was fun, and it was never a random "let's try over there next!" deal. It's not like the chase lasted forever either, there was so much going on, you didn't think of Sephiroth half of the time.
Yeah, it was more like a wander around to the next place deal.
Isn't that an attribute of every RPG?
Normally, there's a reason to go to those places. In this one, it was more like "hey, guys just dropping in" and something happens.

How so? VII had the best storyline and character development of the entire series.
No... that's why it's not on the top. Cloud was an anti-social asshole and developed into being a semi-social asshole. Tifa was just tits. Barret, Red XIII, and Cid were the only characters that made the game great. Yuffie too, kinda. Even then, I wouldn't put the story on much of a pedestal. At first it was good, a rampaging environmental group chasing after a company to save the world. After that it was just "Where's Sephiroth? Let's go to this town. Not here? Next town. Not here?..." Not much to it.
