Nowadays they've made the early leveling process easy enough to the point where you should be able to succeed with any class even if you're just starting out. But, for some extra help, choosing a class that has healing capabilities will make your life easier. These include the Priest, Paladin, Druid, and Shaman.

I like Shaman the best. It's easy leveling with high damage output, and at lower levels you can heal dungeons in any spec.

probably there is no best class, only much suitable one.
as to the class, i highly recommend starting with a warrior or a hunter.

Start with a Warrior, extremely simple.

Then at level 55 make a death knight <3

I would go for a hunter as well. Fun to play and good for soloing quests (most low levels areas are quietnowadays so this is important if you like questing). Just remeber to feed your pet from time to time

i do recommend to start playing with a hunter. very easy to handle and the pet tanks all that you desire. Warlock is more difficult because of the rotations of curses etc etc.
But any class is very ok to play if you wanna try the WoW world

I played wow a year and a bit ago and want to get back into it. I have a couple of questions about characters. I originally played a paladin tank (got to lvl 60ish before quitting). I'd like to think I was fairly good at it but if I start playing again I'm not sure whether to continue with him (bearing in mind I've forgotten all the mechanics except the 69696 rotation, and Cata has changed the dynamics of paladin tanking, or to re-roll as a hunter or warlock or mage (classes I always wanted to play). Are the changes to paladin tanking particularly hard to get your head around and should just start again, or should I continue with my paladin and get him to 80?

I must admit i only really trolls belves and the undead, taurens and orcs/goblins just annoy me But yeah Warlocks and Hunters are always the best to for. Druids and Paladins come close though.
