I'd like to know what people think of this game really. People saw it's bad, others say it's good. I'd like to know the opinions of Neoseeker on Metroid Other M and why you think that. (Be honest please)

spaf289 i didnt expect the 2d metroid games to be like other m, to me they are 2 totally different games, and thats fine. and ill agree that scanning isnt a huge issue (though i would have liked to see it return. but everything else i said is completely unacceptable for a 3d metroid game, especially the combat, which was plain terrible. if you enjoy it, thats fine. i hate it, and i wont change my mind. sorry.
Dude, are you sure you read my post correctly? I remember reading yours and it sounded like you were comparing Other M to the Prime series and that's why I confronted you. (if I made a mistake, I do apologize) Yeah that was unexpected for Other M resemble the 2D Metroid games. However, they may seem like two completely different games to you, but the two have more in common then you realize. For example, If you look at some of the creatures in Super Metroid or even fusion then look at some of the creatures in Other M, you can tell that they are the same. Not to mention some of the abilities are the same, like the speed boost or the ability to jump off walls. If you hate it that badly, that's okay for it's your personal opinion. I just want you to at least understand the game a little more because a lot of people just don't seem to understand it's purpose. (This game actually fills a gap between Super Metroid and everything after)

It already has enough credit. According to Metacritic it has a metascore of 79%. That's pretty darn good. To me that's more credit than it deserves but each to their own.
I suppose that's good enough however, an 80% would have sufficed. But that's just my personal opinion.

Dude, in Other M, Samus isn't quite the badass bounty hunter we know, she is still young. Seriously, Other M takes place right after Super Metroid whereas the Prime series is most likely long after Super Metroid. You people really need to pay attention to the storyline.
They weren't talking about her being a badass; they said they just don't like them being whingy and prefer them silent. And I completely agree; she is whingy and annoying to listen to. Silent doesn't have to mean she's hardcore, it just means not giving her a voice. I touch upon the dialogue/personality in more depth with a previous post. ^^
. I do agree that giving Samus a whinny voice wasn't the best move. Perhaps dialogue would have been slightly better. All I was trying to say is that this game does deserve more credit then what people give it.

the bad: to me it didn't feel like metroid, you were at FULL POWER but Adam doesn't want you to use them wtf?, switching to first person and third person mode is WAY too clunky and inconvenient to use, that's the only way to fire missiles, NO SCANNING OR ALTERNATE VISORS???? WHAT IS THIS????, horrible "look for a tiny detail" puzzles, almost automatic combat, the list GOES ON!

One thing to note is that Samus Aran is still a young hunter during that time frame. She isn't quite the badass bounty hunter we know in the Prime series. Other M and the Prime series can't even compare. Metroid Other M is more like the original games (Metroid, Metroid 2, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission) Infact if you pay attention to the storyline, The Adam in Other M is the same Adam in Fusion. Other M tells you how Adam died. So in my opinion, you don't really know the series all that well. Another thing, Scanning is mostly a thing of the Prime series, which goes back to the Fact that other M and the Prime Series don't compare. The Prime Series is more of a nontraditional Metroid Series of game. However I do agree with you on one thing, Switching from first person to shoot missile was annoying.

The problem for me was that the script was way overdone for Samus's monologues. Another thing that bugged me a lot was the plot similarities to Fusion.
