Dude... Emma is at rank A when she joins your party. Most likely A* She meets you in the first few battles or so and are you actually earning ExP? Say that when you hit an enemy with your weapon does the ExP bar show up and a number [+_?_] showing how much ExP you earned? If so then your copy is not glitched.

So, I've been playing the game for about 25 hours, and have been noticing that, even though it will say that I am improving with certain types of weapons, my actual ranking doesn't change. I have Emma use almost nothing but missiles, and yet she is still at level C, the skill level she was at when you first get her in your party. It is the same with all of my other character. I have Kazuki use a shotgun almost exclusively, and yet I am still at level E.
