(2011 -) ABC
Comedy, 30 Mins
Episode List

quote abc.com
Forget who gets to keep the ring -- when a couple splits, the real question is, who gets to keep the friends? In this modern comedy, a couple's break-up will complicate all of their friends' lives and make everyone question their choices. When life throws you for a curve, hold on tight to the people you love. Every circle of friends has someone who's the gravitational center. For years, perfect couple Dave and Alex drew their friends in and held them together. Now that they've split, does this group have the stuff to stay together? Or do Max, Brad, Jane and Penny have to choose sides? Suddenly every event is a negotiation... like, who gets to go on the annual ski trip? There are a lot of big questions to be answered, but this group has been together so long, somehow, little by little, they'll figure out how to hold on, even though their center is split up. It helps that Dave and Alex have agreed to stay friends. But there will definitely be other complications down the road. This show isn't afraid to ask the embarrassing personal questions that inevitably arise in every long-term, close-knit group of friends.

Happy Endings stars Eliza Coupe (Scrubs) as Jane, Elisha Cuthbert (24) as Alex, Zachary Knighton (FlashForward) as Dave, Adam Pally as Max, Damon Wayans, Jr. (The Underground) as Brad and Casey Wilson (Saturday Night Live) as Penny. The series is from executive producers Jamie Tarses (My Boys), Jonathan Groff (How I Met Your Mother), Anthony & Joe Russo (Community, Arrested Development) and co-executive producer David Caspe (the upcoming feature film I Hate You Dad). The pilot was written by David Caspe and directed by Anthony & Joe Russo, and is from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios.

Started watching this week and it's been really good. Especially after the relative disappointment of HIMYM, it's nice to see a different show about a group of friends in their 20s-30s. It's set in Chicago and shot a lot like Arrested Development. Didn't recognize Cuthbert at first (or the rest of the cast) but it's been good. All the eps so far are on hulu.

Yeah, weak lineup of returning comedies so far for the next season. USA network is unlikely to pick it up, *bleep*.

R.I.P. Glad I at least have four more episodes of season three to catch up on. I could see it having a transplanted life on TBS or USA as the article suggests, but for now yay for nothing but Parks keeping me laughing this coming fall =/

So ABC is scheduling the show twice a week now (new episodes on Sundays and Tuesdays) meaning tomorrow is the mid-season premiere. Kind of suggesting that they want to air it all as fast as possible and maybe cancel, we'll see though.
*bleep*ing hell, all my favourite shows are getting canned this season. This show, Community, Young Justice, Green Lantern.

Started getting into this show... not bad. Has potential. Dave Pally and DW Jr. stand out in the show to me, and Casey Wilson is nice to look at.

I haven't seen too many episodes, but the one with Max planning to prank-venge everyone was good.

I snorted so *bleep*ing loud when Brad showed up in the third act. Wayans just has more fun being on TV than like anyone else I've ever seen. Hilarious ep, and Max was really good too.

That whole Boys 2 Menorah plot was hilarious. No other show would do an entire story about Bar Mitzvah hype men, lol. Did they establish earlier that Brad and Max first met on the set of Real World?

"I'm Greg." lol

I let the trope storylines slide in cases like this because the cast is too damn enjoyable not to watch. There's also Brad and Jane storylines (SinBrad? Entire tub scene? "Coming so hard... home from work") and I just can't get enough of those two.

I get how you can be tired of *bleep* buddy plots in sitcoms, they even poke fun directly at it with Alex's line:
"The last thing we want is for things to get complicated, like in It's Complicated. So we're just gonna go with it like in Just Go With It and be Friends With Benefits like in No Strings Attached."

But honestly, that's how situations like that end up turning into IRL, two people casually *bleep*ing and realizing they actually like each other, after they start seeing other people. I loved Brad and Jane's plot. Crossing my fingers for an uncut version on the next DVD . Plus, they used Stephen King's Misery as a verb. Good episode, not on par with last season's best moments but their premieres have never been their strongest episodes. And I also consider the fact that some of their writers jumped ship to Community, so I'll cut them some slack in the early episodes as they adjust.

The premiere was cringe-worthy, I couldn't stand it. I hated the plot that keeps getting recycled from sitcom to sitcom. I stopped watching halfway into the episode. =\
