Characters wHo Eventually Need Game Playabality Umbrella
The nominations are in and we have our 16 finalists! 5 Wei nominees, 4 from Wu, 3 from Shu, and 2 each from Jin and Others. For those of you who don't know how this works, its pretty simple.
Flow of Voting
There will be 16, 3-day rounds of voting. The first day of each round will be closed to voting so that we can discuss the match ups and champion our favorites. As anyone who knows me knows, I believe that the point of Neoseeker is discussion; thus the 1 day wait. After the first day of discussion, you'll have two days to get your vote in. No real format for that. Just make sure I know who you're voting for.
I'll put up a little calender in one of these posts so everyone knows what's happening on each day.
Just for competition's sake, C.H.E.N.G.P.U. Take one was done tournament/bracket style with members picking their winners and scoring bragging rights. Last year, SadXuHuang cleared the table with his picks. This year; who knows?
To fill out your bracket, just copy and paste the form below. Bold your winners, switch the "Round X Winner..." lines in the later round to your earlier picks and bold the winners of those as well. Should be simple, but if there's any confusion, just follow my lead.

Wang Ping has usurped Yu Jin's throne as most wanted character. A worthy addition, but nowhere to be seen on the Japanese new character poll. The East craves strategists while the West demands warriors. Perhaps KOEI will go its typical route and pick neither; upgrade some obscure warrior's wife. It is inevitable -- KOEI will always add a female to keep gender diversity. Perhaps we should have an all ladies version of C.H.E.N.G.P.U....
Also, no offense to old man Cheng Pu, but I'd rather see Yue Jin first in line to upgrade before him.

Great to see Wang Ping winning outright! Definitely a character I'd love to see playable Let's hope that he, along with many of the other characters in this will show up in future sequels
Ah, it looks like getting those 'big point' final rounders correct was essential when it came to the scoring; congrats on the win BrokenKnights! & cheers for running this too - was good fun and I guess I've come to appreciate the qualities of a few more of these characters that I'd kinda overlooked a bit too I'll be looking forward to CHENGPU take three when DW8 arrives; wonder if he will ever get added
Ha, go me; I came last!

And there you have it, guys. Wang Ping is your new champion.
I won the tournament with a score of 31. And MaChaotheSplendid got second place with a score of 30.
Feel free to check my math
In any case, I'd be pretty down if Wang Ping got added.

So it appears like Wang Ping is taking this. One more day, just so I can end this at the end of the week.
And so I can come up with something new to fill the CHENGPU void....

Maybe Friday is a bit of a stretch. I'll give it a couple more days, just to make sure everyone who wants to, gets to vote. Then we'll call Wang Ping winner

Yu Jin vs. Wang Ping
The final battle. The much superior Yue Jin should of been here to crush Yu Jin, but let's leave it to the formidable Wang Ping to take on Sir Shamed Surrendered.
First, the biggest obstacle for Yu Jin is that his story is tied closely to Pang De, but KOEI hatesPang De. Added in DW5 and then deleted twice in a row, his weapons given to Zhang Liao, Pang De has been sliding down the slope of obscurity since 2008 (WO2). Yu Jin needs Pang De for contrast. One man surrenders and other refuses. What happened out there on that rain-soaked dyke? What motivations were at play? Inner turmoil and regret make interesting story material, but it won't work if Xiahou Dun plays stand-in.
Second, for the most part, Wang Ping was picked over Liao Hua because he offered more variety than treading that familiar Guan Yu storyline. He interacts with under-utilized cast members and plays large parts at interesting, less-showcased battles. Wang Ping enriches Shu (and Wei) and adds to the much needed next generation for the post-Zhuge Liang days.
Third, according to Wikipedia, Yu Jin has a bit of irony in his career (much like Zhuge Dan who particpated in squashing a rebellion only to launch is own a year later):
After Cao Cao defeated rival warlord Yuan Shao at the Battle of Guandu in 200, Yu was promoted to a deputy general for his valor in battle. As Yuan's heirs were eradicated, Chang Xi, a local warlord who had previously surrendered, rebelled again. Yu was deployed with a force to quell the rebellion. As they were old friends, Chang then submitted to Yu. Many suggested that Chang should be sent to Cao Cao, but Yu admonished them, saying, "Don't you know the lord's law is that those who surrender after being besieged shall not be pardoned?" Personally meeting Chang to say his parting words in tears, Yu then had the rebel executed. When Cao heard of this, he respected Yu even more and promoted the latter to General of Tiger's Might
Wei needs its Five Generals, but Shu's need for a new valuable character (just say no to Guan Suo) is greater.
Yu Jin - 3 Wang Ping - 4

They can both have a place in DW8- it is settled.
Anyways if Pang De makes his return, it'll be enough for Wei (at least if they pull off his story in epic fashion) and i think Shu needs something different. I thought Ma Dai would have filled that role, but he's just filler.
Yu Jin - 3 Wang Ping - 3
