I think strategy guides are pretty useless, honestly, with all the Internet we have, lol. But I must admit it is pretty handy to have a guide RIGHT THERE and not have to jump on a computer to find out what you need. I've been playing Pokemon a while, though, and have only bought one guide, the Diamond/Pearl one with the Pokedex info and thru-game and post-game info and hints and all that good crapola that is a waste of $20. I will most likely not be buying this guide, unless it is cheap. If I DO buy the guide though, it will be the regular version, since the collectors one is a big pile of money-eating poop.

So, basically the Special Edition covers book 1 and 2? So that way you don't have to buy both of them?

Wait, does the Special Edition Strategy Guide contain the whole game and step-by-step basically?
I'm pretty sure. I think book one has info up to the end of the story, and book two has the post-game stuff and the full Pokedex. This is the one I ordered!

What's the difference between volume 1 and volume 2?

Yeah I find them to be useful, much more fancy-looking than searching things on the internet. xP

Kinda surprised they've been dropping the prices already. Seems to be the thing to do after the actual releases of the games.
It was the same for HGSS. The prices were lowest on release day and the price for the HGSS guides rose by a couple of dollar in the weeks after release. Prices have stayed very static since.

I think that alot of sales of these guides occurs on or around release date so there's a bit of competition to capture that lucrative slice of the market.
