I hate having to flick or shake the wiimote or move it in any way. Does this game require any kind of stupid control like this or can you play with just buttons?

Honestly, even if I had the option to use a GameCube controller or a Classic Controller, I would still use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to play this game.
Same here. After using the Wii-Remote with the Nunchuck, I honestly don't think I could prefer a better control setup.

I tried switching to just the Wiimote yesterday and now my thumb is killing me from the damn D-pad.

I just opened DKCR this afternoon and I'm liking it so far. I'm not a fan of the motion controls though as they feel tacked on like in a lot of games. I wouldn't care whatsoever if they included the option to play with a GCN controller or the Classic Controller (Pro) as well. The only motion control that feels natural is the pound ground move. Oh well.

But I have been using the Nunchuck since I bought the game and I can tell you, it does not do that at all.
If you get an itchy nose and move your left arm up to scratch your nose it does

I've only used the Wii Remote and Nunchuck controller scheme too. I think I'll just stick to that, since I'm more used to it.

I haven't used the Wii-Remoted sideways as of yet. But I have been using the Nunchuck since I bought the game and I can tell you, it does not do that at all. Not for me anyways. But maybe I'll give the Wii-Remote sideways a try and see which is better. But the Nunchuck is not that bad.

I haven't tried using the Nunchuck, because I read somewhere that moving it slightly causing Donkey to roll and I have a feeling I'd fall into that trap a few too many times for my sanity. For those of you that have played using both-which is more responsive? Wiimote sideways or with Nunchuck?

I haven't had any problems with the motion controls myself. Every time I needed to use the roll or slam the ground, it did.

I've accidentally rolled before when I was supposed to stomp and I ended up falling to my death. But other than that, I haven't had any real problems.
