What was your first Tales Of game? The first played, the one that really got you in to the franchise.
I first played Destiny for the PS1, I don't even know if I beat it. I played Destiny II [a.k.a. Eternia] on PS1 as well, barely played it but I really want to. Symphonia, beat 100%. The Abyss, Beat. Phantasia, Beat. What was the other one for the PS2? That came out around the same time as Abyss? I've played but not beat that one. Never played the real Destiny II or Vesperia. This list was made by memory
But yea, how about you guys?

I haven't played too much of this series.
Like a good portion of North Americans, I also became aware of this series because of Tales of Symphonia. It really was the lack of good RPG's for Gamecube that made this game became the most popular Tales games in the U.S. I won't go into detail, but I greatly enjoyed this game. Thanks to this game I decided to check out mainly the upcoming Tales games.
Next I played Tales of the Abyss for the Playstation 2 at a friends house, but I didn't get an opportunity to really sit down with it until bought the 3DS version years later. I put alot of hours into this game like I did with ToS.
Before Tales of the Abyss for the 3DS, I had gotten Tales of Vesperia and ToS Dawn of the New World. Tales of Vesperia is probably my favorite Tales game at the moment. I'm not too sure. I actually did enjoy ToS Dawn of the New World, but not as much as the mainstream titles. As a spinoff, this game was definitely not 'bad', but no where near the level of the main games.
I look forward to playing Tales of Graces f real soon, despite the mixed reviews the game has received.
I'm hoping Tales of Xillia gets licensed. That one seemss very interesting.

First tales game was Symphonia, then Abyss, Vesperia, and now Graces F. I love the series and wish I could play more of the games.
This will be my first Tales game ever! Breaking my tales virginity on the 25th.
A little later than I planned but I just bought this game, so let the fun begin.

The first Tales I got into was ToD way back when. Though the first I ever beaten was Symphonia, then later Legendia, Abyss, then Vesperia.
I played Phantasia but I remember getting stuck after fighting the antagonist for the first time and ended up trading it in back when I didn't realize trading in games really wasn't worth it. Also played The spinoff of the series for the PSP, but it got pretty stale really quick, though it was a nice idea.

Saga
It all started when I bought Baten Kaitos for Game Cube, and the game advertised in the last page of it's booklet called my attention. It was Tales of Symphonia.
I really liked the game advertised there, but I could never find it anywhere. One random day when I had given up on getting the game, I went to a local store that sells used games and found Tales of Symphonia FINALLY. I was 14, and didn't have any money on me, so I had to ask my mom for a couple of bucks.
So she gave me a few dollars and bought the game. I started playing it and I had a real hard time putting it down. Tales of Symphonia was one of the most touching RPGs I have ever played.
After I beat it I obsessed over it for a while, and I started reading about the series. I wanted to play Phantasia badly, still do, but sadly that's a hard one to find, though I watched it's OVAs.
I read about Abyss and honestly it didn't call my attention at first. But then I traveled to the US a few months before I turned 16 and we went to Target with my family. I spotted the game sitting nicely in a shelf. I was surprised because Target, Walmart, and those American "superstores" only sell games that are children friendly and/or very popular games. I didn't hesitate to buy it, though again I had to get money from someone... My brother this time.
When we came home I started playing it. I loved it. I consider it one of the best Tales games ever. It's deep storyline and character development were beautiful. I again obsessed over the game and felt empty when I beat it. TotA will forever be one of my favorite games - over Symphonia, too!
Then I heard about Symphonia II and I got excited. I actually loved it. It had great character development despite it getting over cheesy at times. I enjoyed that game a lot and I would certainly play it again.
Then I bought Vesperia, and it was my biggest disappointment in terms of Tales games ever. I would give it around 2.5 stars over 5. In terms of story and character development, it was very poorly done, IMHO.
Now I'm playing Tales of Graces and I'm loving every second of it. I don't have words to describe it.

My first was Symphonia, although you probably can't guess my favorite character XD. I've also played Phantasia, Abyss, and Dawn of the New World, and I love them all except Dawn. You can't customize any character besides my least favorites(Marta's stupid and Emil is emo and stupid), and the monsters fighting with you was a dumb idea, but the absolute worst was the story. just pathetic.

My only Tales game was Tales of Phantasia (GBA). I enjoyed it, but I can see how people might have thought it didn't age well. I can't wait for Abyss though, I'm expecting an equally absorbing experience on Valentine's Day!!
