Sherlock is a British television series created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. It is a contemporary update of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr. Watson.
It was originally commissioned as a 60-minute pilot, which was filmed but never broadcast. Three 90-minute episodes were commissioned, which are scheduled to broadcast weekly from 25 July 2010 on BBC One and BBC HD.
The show was produced by Hartswood Films for BBC Wales, co-produced with Masterpiece. It was filmed in London and Cardiff.
This is something I'm sure all Doctor Who fans will love! I just saw the first episode and was absolutely enthralled by it. Another Stephen Moffat masterpeice me thinks.

I dont think moriarty is coming back. i read somewhere about the creators mentioning they'd like to move the story away from moriarty and have new plots.
The first episode of the new series is loosely to based on The Adventure of the Empty House, it seems. Can't wit for it to begin. They have finished filming. But no release dates yet. Hope it comes soon. I have my theories about how he faked his death. Want to see if I got it right.

I kind of didn't care for the last episode. Come on, Sherlock. A single line of code can't break in to every security system.

Jekyll was not a very good series plus I didn't really like the actor who played him, but Sherlock is brilliant. Benedict plays a perfect Sherlock although Jeremy Brett is still my favourite Holmes. Benedict really brings to life the modern take on Sherlock as does Martin Freeman, Mark Gatiss and Andrew Scott as Watson, Mycroft and Moriarty.
I don't really like much about it to be honest. Don't like the way they've incorporated the lore either...direct descendent, the book is a true story but still a novel by RLS. Go away.
watched Jekyll recently on netflix.. I didnt think it was that bad.. though certainly not as refined as sherlock, though I guess it felt like Moffat was still finding his feet..
still need to get season 2 on dvd, really great end for the 2nd season =) oh and by the by isnt the US doing their own Sherlock project also? apparently they got lucy liu as "watson"... yea.. not sure how thats going to work..

I have seen both the first and second episodes. Sherlock is awesome. Can't wait for the next episode. I wanna know why sSherlock was still alive after he jumped down from upstairs.

I caught up on all this last month. The 90 minute episodes were a little tough to digest so it was slow going, especially in the less exciting first season. A Scandal in Belgravia kicked some major ass and brought me fully on board. All of this second set were up a notch. The ending was kind of obvious and didn't leave much to mystery except the fate of Moriarty... at least the Fall set up some fantastic acting from Martin Freeman in the last ten minutes.

I love Sherlock, both the first and second series were brilliant, especially how he pulled off his apparent suicide. I hope they bring Moriarty back somehow, them two were brilliant together. Two really good actors.

Season two was superb! I wonder how they're going to reintroduce Sherlock in season three? Are they going to stick to the whole 'Sherlock becomes a bee keeper' plot like from the stories?

I still say we need an episode with a modern day Arsene Lupin (if they can get permission to use). Just picture how awesome he would be to keep up with for Sherlock.

She was fleeing from various terrorist groups as well, not just Moriarty. Don't know how they would bring her back, seems unnecessary. Unless they somehow top A Scandal in Belgravia, which I really don't see happening.
