I dont normally ditch my starter with the exeption of the johto starters which I dont like any of them.

But I always trade over another starter from a different region. At the mo got a charizard but my favs r turtwig and chimchar.

i usually do unless, its the following pokemon:
Charmander (numb one fav)
Torchic
Mudkip
treecko
turtwig

I put them in the PC 'cause I have lvl 100 ho-oh, mewtwo, latais, And articuno zapdos and moltres oh and 5 other legendarys.

Well, it's a Typhlosion but it used to be a Cyndaquil.

You mean you used an everstone to keep it Cydaquil or is it a Typhlosion?

I never really abandon my starter. I tend to use all 3 on my first play through, I get the other 2 by trading. I like all of the starters to be quite honest.

You're just like me! I always have to keep my starter because he is an HM slave (Surf) and I don't want to use the HM again.
