When do you decide it's time to swap your starter Pokemon out for a different Pokemon? Or are you someone who keeps their starter Pokemon for the entire game?
I usually keep my starter Pokemon for the gym circuit, and change my lineup before I get ready to tackle the Elite 4.

i ditched my typlosion after beating the league for the first time because thats when the stats difference gap was so huge.

never. my Typhlosion was my main man on Crystal and same goes with Pikachu on Yellow.
was tempted to get Feraligatr on HG though but i couldn't resist another Typhlosion. will be aiming to recreate my Tyranitar/Typhlosion partnership on this one especially after my success with them on Crystal and the fact i can tag team battle on this generation's engine.
will probably end up keeping all the starters in my team with HG but will always prefer my Typhlosion over Charizard, Arcanine, Entei, etc. as my fire pokemon.

I usually ditch mine after the first couple of badges.. beforehand I always have the team I'm using ready.. by the 2nd or 3rd gym, I don't need to train the starter I have. (i do later on, for the pokedex entry)

I just felt that it was lacking. I probably gave him up after the first gym.
