At the moment, vidoes are worth 1 neopoint. Cheats are worth 2. It takes a lot more time to (make|download) a video then (reupload|edit) it than it does to submit a cheat. I'd like to see neovideos worth a bit more than just a single neopoint (3, prehaps or even 4 neopoints?)

I'll request a change to 3 neopoints. Are you all happy with this? Personally, given Minipics garner that many NeoPoints, I feel it's adequete for Videos.
If someone has a very strong agument against this move please do let me know, but I feel Video Uploading is probably worth that much. That said, I may look into reducing Minipic NeoPoints...
But as it stands, by next week (hopefully) Videos should be at 3 NeoPoints unless there are some strong objections (with objective reasoning behind them).
What is upping the value going to accomplish anyway? That one extra, or for the sake of argument let's say two, Neopoints isn't going to entice people to start contributing more videos.
I hate to bear what should be obvious news, more points makes it more purposeful to put in the effort (and/or bandwidth) to download and upload the videos again. Having it worth one point only is a deterrent against the time it takes to go through the process. I know at least one CRS staff member that doesn't upload videos frequently due to the lack of value in the area there.

A couple of points here and there doesn't make a huge difference, and I don't have any issue with Benedict's suggestion
Not really. If videos are worth 3 points you get 60 points for 20 videos compared to just 20 points. That is what matters to a large amount of people, neopoints can largely be used as a bragging right.

Surprisingly, the whole neopoint thing is a rather important issue. At one time user reviews were not worth any at all but was changed to give recognition to those writing them. This suggestion is running along the same lines, and the least we can do is ensure that the point rewards are scaled against the contribution type as best we can.
...what would be the point of implementing it in the first place?
It's a number change, not a complete restructure of the Neoseeker database or a total design refresh built from the ground up. The point is to make the system make more sense and better reward people who do actually take the time to add videos to Neoseeker.
It's not the most important thing in the world but I would not dismiss the idea entirely just because of that alone.
I wasn't.

Then what's the point of the neopoint system in the first place? It's not as if Benedict is asking for some huge structure change and ideally the neopoint award should be scaled against the importance and difficulty of the contribution.

No, I'm not. All I'm saying is downloading a trailer/gameplay video from YouTube or some other website, and then uploading it to Neoseeker, doesn't require a whole lot of effort on the contributor's part.

Yeah, but all of my videos are my own work, not youtube. (Gosh, I wish people would stop thinking videos HAVE to be from youtube)

The same could be said about anything. To copy/paste something takes a whole lot less effort than download/upload. You're saying that downloading a video, then uploading it again is easier than copy pasting an aspect ratio from imdb to neo.

Yes, it takes a bit of time to optimize a video, but at the same time it isn't difficult to find and upload clips. Not to mention a good majority of the gaming videos and trailers on the web are already optimized for quality, so really the only thing you would have to do is download then upload the file to Neoseeker -- an effortless act in its self.
