I think it might just be the best rivalry, Seifer hates Squall but respects his skill too which is odd. Squall is just trying to do what he always wanted and be a seed and when Seifer doesn't become a seed he turns against them.Cloud v Sephiroth is also a very good video game rivalry Cloud hates Sephiroth for burning his town down killing his mum and his friends and tifas dad and nearly Tifa. Sephiroth just wants revenge on humans for how they treated him. What u lot think of wat the best rivalry is and the reason for it?

i know this a very old thread but its better than creating new ones. i personally think that cloud and sephiroth have the better rivalry because its more personal and their rivalry revolves around all the game.

Well the word rivalry would indicate that they were competing, as if to show who was better. This really was not the case so I do not think that rivalry is the right word for it.

well Sephiroth was a master swordsman and Cloud was weak at the start of he game so yes for most of the game Cloud was chasing Sephiroth and Sephiroth is stronger then Cloud i feel even when Cloud beats Sephiroth at the end but it is a rivalry because Cloud hates Sephiroth for all the people close to him Sephiroth killed and Sephiroth hated Cloud for nearly killing him in the past, so it was a rivalry.

Well I don't think that Cloud and Sephiroth ever even had a rivalry. Cloud looked at Sephiroth as a god-like hero and mentor, not someone to compete with (because he obviously couldn't). That is, until Sephiroth burned down Nibelheim. But after that, it was still not what should be considered a rivalry. It was more like Cloud wants to stop Sephiroth, not he wants to show that he is better than Sephiroth in some sort of competition. As for Squall and Seifer, never did care much for Seifer so I never really got into that aspect of FFVIII.

I would like to see a fight between Squall and Cloud, allot of people want to see that like i do just to see who is hardest but even if they did fight it would be impossible to say who is best because they are both in different games with different battle systems and attacks etc, but if Sephiroth and Seifer fighted Sephiroth would kill Seifer easy as Seifer has got nothing on Sephiroth.

I liked Squall and Seifers more, i just liked how they were round the same age both used the gunblade nd were both good deep down.

So its either or. I still feel that the latter(C&S) two make the better rivarly. In second place of rivarlries would definetly be Squall and Seifer.

both in some cases but they dont hate each other (Squall and Seifer) there just differnt and are jeulos, but Cloud and Sephiroth are not jeulos of each other, theres just hate.

Yes but does Hatred or jealously make rivarly? Is it one of them or mabye a combination.
