Not sure if this is the right forum to post this on but I couldnt find a technical related forum.
Anyways, im having issues with my PS3 in that it will not allow me to insert a disc, even when I manually push it all the way in.
If I do manually push it in it wont read, if I dont manually push it in and try to get the PS3 to do the nifty trick and pull the disc in itself it wont do that either.

On the Sony site it sais to keep your hand on the eject button for 10 or 15 seconds, ive done that and nothing happened. Ive also attempted to clean it by sticking a stick wrapped in microfibre cloth, and that has not worked either. Ive also switched my PS3 on and off plenty of times trying to get it to work each time, sometimes unplugging the power in between power on and off but that has not worked either.

Anyone know what the issue might be? Has anyone had this issue?
Help would be much appreciated.

If no one knows I might have to take it to a service shop to get them to inspect it. I hope my warranty covers this.

I have kinda the same problem,my PS# won't take a disk in when I try to put one in,it's like the system in unplugged,by when the disk is in there and I push eject,it will eject the disk,I push the disk in the system and then I take another disk and push the other disk all the way in,but it won't see the disk until I turn the system off, then when I turn it back on,I can play the game,or movie, ehat ever I put in it will read it after I shut it off then back on,it's almost like it don't know your putting a disk in,I still need to find out what the problem.

I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION FOR FIXING THE PS3 SLIM..... STEP ONE. REMOVE ALL CORDS FROM THE SYSTEM. STEP TWO. FLIP OVER YOUR PS3 ON ITS back and LOOK FOR THE SMALL LITTLE DOOR NEAR THE TOP OF THE PS3 AND PULL IT ALL THE WAY OUT. STEP THREE GRAB A SCREW DRIVER AND STICK IT INTO THE HOLE WITHOUT THE SCREW AND TWIST 20 TIMES...... This will fix the ps3 not accepting disc and also will manually eject any stuck disc inside your game.....

Just want to say thanks solution, which helped in my case (PS3 Fat):

quote
I found a neat trick for this, mine was doing the same thing, I noticed that if I turn on my system with the disk partly in, that it will load it automatically... good temporary solution, I have no warrantee
After that blurey just started working all the time.

If it helps i didn't pull disc all in before restarting (that's what she said). I left 1/3 of disc "not inserted".

Well, looks like my PS3 is foreboding this problem.

It seems to have trouble with getting the disc in, aswell as starting it up.

The reason for it reading the disk wile its off is because the slim never really turns off enless you unplug it. When you turn it off with out unplugging it. it just goes into stand by mode just like the second gen ps2 were you had to actually get up and turn it to stand by then unplug it.
