It's not even that confusing just pay attention when you watch it
I must not be as versed in NGE-fu as you.
Spoiler:because that entire movie is one giant spoiler anyway
Stuff like why the spears being different mattered for instance, completely did not understand until I read up on it. A lot of the major plot elements that drive things are fairly self explanitory, like Wille-ians hating Shinji for causing the "near third impact"/"third impact" (it got called both iirc), but there was a large chunk still centered in lore I just didn't know, or wasn't just straight up told but more insinuated, took thought.
I guess I can kind of understand the radically different views on the movie. I hear some people say it blows, others say it was awesome, and rarely anything inbetween. It seems to me like a movie that rewards effort put into it. Plot was fun, it's a movie, it has one, but a lot of what went on seems like it was specifically for those people who have been lore-hounding for like twenty some-odd years and giving that a new spin. Which I am totally okay with, because it makes for some awesome ideas and evidence for old ideas.

Few months late, Duncan Idaho really depends on the quality, for example, you could run 500mb on some low-quality version of one of the movies, or run up to like, 8-15gb or something utterly ridiculous (but so pretty).
Just watched it.
I...uh...wow. That'll take a while to process. I'm thinking sometime later this week I'll be running a full marathon and trying to figure out what just happened.
Laughed when I saw the trailer footage tied in to the movie (piano), cried or gasped at basically any other point.

So... um.. yeah. That was really different.
Spoiler:Eva 3.0 Spoilers
So... fourteen years have passed. Most of NERV have abandoned ship, and are now the Anti-NERV organisation called WILLE. Turn's out despite Kaworu spearing EVA-01, the Third Impact still happened.
Asuka and Mari are working for WILLE, with EVA-02 and Mari now piloting EVA-08. NERV still exists in shambles, with Rei piloting EVA-00 and Kaworu and Shinji now both piloting the new EVA-13.
Mark.06 was apparently the Twelfth Angel, and Kaworu was the First AND Thirteenth Angel. Fourth Impact nearly happens.
So... I feel really confused about what exactly happened during this. It was just sort of all over the place. Shinji could have used the Spears of Longulus and.. Cassius? to save the world, but there were two Spears of Longulus?
Asuka took out Mark.06 and Misato killed Kaworu, so does that mean the Angels are finished?
Gendo killed off Seele, I think...
...Yeah I really don't know what happened. I'll have to watch it again sometime.

Judging by the synopsis, this movie seems to go off the *bleep*ing rails from the old series.
Spoiler:Movie Synopsis (general plot but not really spoilerish)
Fourteen years have passed since Third Impact, yet the Angels continue their attacks against mankind. Shinji Ikari is salvaged from Evangelion Unit-01 and finds that things have changed, but not for the better: the world has been devastated, his former allies from NERV have become hostile toward him, and Rei Ayanami, the girl Shinji risked everything for, is nowhere to be found. As he attempts to adjust to this strange new world, Shinji befriends the enigmatic Kaworu Nagisa. Together in their search for Rei, the pair learns the terrible truths behind the Angels, NERV, and the Evangelions. But a faint glimmer of hope remains for the two boys: a single opportunity to undo the mistakes of the past. Now the remnants of mankind are after them, the Angels race to stop them, and their old friends have declared them public enemy number one. With only Kaworu to support him and all the world against him, Shinji must fight for his one chance for redemption. But that may well mean finishing what he started — the end of the world.
Definitely a yaoi fest.

Orgazmo, I'd watch the Rebuilds after everything. While personally I like the original more, the Rebuilds are fantastic. I disagree pretty wholeheartedly with Foquinha. I see his side, but they're just so beautiful it's hard to knock them. Treat them like a separate entity where the characters look the same but aren't.
