Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a package with no return address lying on his porch. Inside he discovers seven cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker — his classmate and crush — who committed suicide two weeks earlier.
With Hannah’s voice as his guide, Clay spends the rest of the night wandering through town, visiting places mentioned on the tapes, unearthing the thirteen reasons why Hannah chose to end her life.
And one reason belongs to him.
This is one of the most amazing books I have ever read, seriously. You can read it here.

I found this book a few years ago. It's freaking AMAZING. it really inspires you to take your chances .I am re-reading this book .I love this book so much.
I especially like Hannah and Clay's relationship and how it's portrayed - you could consider it just a cliched "doomed romance" but at a deeper level it's also a sort of lost opportunity to alter the mental state of a very deeply depressed individual and change her life. Clay blames himself and in it a way it is his fault, but his involvement is a lot more complicated than the others'.
I agree. Though the book is rather short (maybe that's half the reason why it's so good), it really inspires you to take your chances when they're presented to you - rather than procrastinating like Clay, later finding out that Hannah liked him when her mind was already made up.

I just finished re-reading this book and the outcome seems so much sadder than it did when I read it fresh. I can't help but feel like I actually knew Hannah Baker in person - she reminds me of someone actually.
I love this book so much.

I've read the first 100 pages again and I almost forgot how good it was. Definitely agree with the anti-bullying/suicide messages it gives off. I dunno if it could be recommended to anyone above the age of maybe, 25 or so. But it has got a message of "be careful of how you treat anyone" in it so maybe it's somewhat timeless. Love it. Need more books like this.
