You can try downloading the latest patch from EA's website, but there's a good chance that Vista is your problem.

My Computer does that too! every time i try to create a new family it freezes on me and i have tried to uninstall it and reinstall but it doesn't work and i have a Vista as well. I have waited a while too but it doesn't want to work.

How long is it supposed to take? I've waited probably around 3 to 5 minutes before, and when I start task manager it says that the program is not responding. PLus, I just started playing the game so the only stuff I have on my lot is the pre-existing stuff that originally gets installed with the game.

It's supposed to take a while when you try to save. Maybe you are just not waiting long enough? Keep in mind that the more items you have on the lot, the longer it'll take to save everything.

I have the sims 2 double deluxe. I'm running a vista system, and when I try to save new sims that i create or new houses that i create the game freezes. Other than this the game runs just fine. Existing houses and sims work just fine. What can i do?
