Is it Eircom, Ticali, Last Mile, 3G, Vodafone, Virgin etc etc? I ask because somebody I know wants to get broadband and he's also getting a PS3 so what provider would be best suited for a gamer in Dublin?

Virgin/NTL would do good. There are times when it's down, but I think that's due to the area I live in. Whenever it's up and running, it's perfect for playing games online. Just do yourself a favour and don't get 3G.

I'm on Tiscali, and while they may be cheap and have comparatively slow speeds to others, I can honestly say my modem disconnects only about twice a year. It's a very, very stable connection.
BT do the job fine for me tbh. I'm not too sure on virgin tbh as I don't like their whole monitoring policy. Try to get a provider that doesn't have a fair usage policy (unlimited use).
I'm crap with BT with my 360, I get disconnected and some pretty bad lag sometimes.

I have 10mb with NTL. does me fine and it's usually me and my brother with at least 2 other computers on at the same time playing.

Virgin are generally the best speed/lowest latency. None of the others are as well suited for gaming except maybe Last Mile whom I know nothing about.
