Figured we needed a thread for the next in-production Gundam series. This one is to be set firmly in the UC timeline not long after the events of Char's Counterattack. Unicron is supposed to be in production for a winter of 2009 release.
In the June 2009 issue of the Japanese monthly manga magazine, Gundam Ace, it was announced that an anime adaptation for Gundam Unicorn has been green-lit for late 2009. It will be directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi and will feature screenplays written by Yasuyuki Muto. Hajime Katoki, who was the mechanical designer for the novel, will also work on the anime alongside veteran designers Junya Ishigaki and Yoshinori Sayama, and newcomer Nobuhiko Genba. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's character designs will be adapted for animation by Kumiko Takahashi. Though the type of format the anime will be released has yet to be announced, Sunrise, the animation studio that will produce the project, has announced its plan to release the anime worldwide.
Thread Recap (last 10 posts from newest to oldest)
Atleast the show kicked off with action, but you're right it's more of a revelation episode. And darnit I was rooting for you Jegan guy!
"My last order to you is... Follow your heart." Cheesy as hell but it's the memorable line I've encountered on that episode.
And now the long wait begins.

Well everyone it's come and while there wasn't much action per se, it was thought provoking. Mostly how utterly crap and screwed up the U.C universe is. Some good realistic points thrown in by Full Frontal with some obligatory idealism from Banagher and Mineva.
Just thinking back to when I first watched the original Gundam and the OYW ended until now I thought about putting myself in this universe. Having traveled all this way with this cast of characters that started from the White Base but have spiritually progressed to different bridges, I can't help but wonder has anything gotten better? Again we see the main cast heading into the final battle which feels like if they win this everything will be a little better or humanity has a chance. Some greater good is accomplished when really in the grand scheme of things it just furthers the Federation's agenda. And the EF sucks. It hasn't gotten any better actually it's gotten a little worse. As a believer in newtypism I'd have to agree with Full Frontal in his idea of self-governing colonies that sever ties with the Earth. If people hate it on the Earth they can just move to space which doesn't have a population cap. Seems perfectly in line with what Char wanted without needing to drop asteroids on the planet.
But aside from the ideology and debates the episode was worth the wait as will be the last episode next year (..sigh, next year...)
